At Furkids, we dedicate ourselves to healing animals in need, and we recognize that the animals heal us right back. We want to share a heartwarming story of just how special the connection is that we share with these beautiful and amazing beings. ❤️‍🩹

A few weeks back, a hospice coordinator named Rachel reached out to our founder and CEO Samantha Shelton with a heartfelt request. One of her terminally ill patients had one last wish: to snuggle and play with a small kitten.

Without hesitation, we said yes and set out to make this dream a reality. When Rachel arrived at the hospice facility with a small kitten in hand, magic happened. The interaction was pure and full of love. After the visit, Rachel sent us a message that touched our hearts...

"I don't think a cuter kitten exists. The amount of joy this brought our patient and staff today is off the charts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us with this. Thank you so very much for making this happen!"

This is exactly why we do what we do! We rescue animals, mend their spirits, we find them loving homes - but in return, animals offer us something just as powerful. They bring comfort to the lonely, smiles to the downtrodden, and healing to hearts in need. That day, a little kitten fulfilled a final wish. And in doing so, she reminded us all why our mission matters - not just to the animals we save, but to the people who need them most.

Theo's journey hasn't been easy, but this resilient 3-year-old, 50-pund Pitbull mix is finally ready for a forever home! Rescued from an overcrowded animal control, Theo came to Furkids sick and with a broken leg. But with plenty of TLC, he has made a full recovery and is now looking for a family to call his own. 🩶

Theo is a total sweetheart - good with dogs, respectful of cats, and house-trained. His foster describes him as a "little tank" - small but mighty, and with a heart of gold. He's strong, playful, and adores treats, belly rubs, and snuggling on your lap. He's a big fan of going on walks around the neighborhood and meeting friends! Despite his strength, he is incredibly gentle, even going nose-to-nose with tiny kittens!

Because of his strength and enthusiasm, Theo would do best in a home with older children. More than anything, Theo just wants to be part of a family. Nova is a gorgeous, 63-pund mixed breed who has had quite the journey! This four-year-old girl started life in Puerto Rico before making her way to Furkids in 2021. She found a home as a puppy, but unfortunately was returned to us earlier this year due to no fault of her own.

This girl is playful, energetic, and always ready to have some fun and is happiest when she's on the move. She absolutely loves people and makes friends wherever she goes. 🖤 Nova could use a little work on her manners, so a home without very small children would be best. A fenced-in backyard would be a dream come true for Nova, giving her the space to run and burn off some energy.

Mari & Micha are two lovely ladies at our Petco Buckhead adoption center! Let us tell you a little bit about how purrrfect they are 😻

🩶 Mari - a stunning, 2 year old grey girl who was rescued from an overcrowded animal control. She's a super sweet girl who easily makes friends with other cats and LOVES to play!

🤎 Micha - this almost 3 year old tortie was found as a stray in February of 2024 before she was brought to Furkids. She can be a little shy at first, but once she gets to know you she is a total lap cat! She gets along well with cats and dogs.

Every week brings new miracles at Furkids—here are some of our favorite moments from this past week! 🧡🐾

🐶 We are getting closer to reaching our Give Fur Life fundraising goal! With your support, this puppy named Cannoli received a much needed surgery, and is recovering in foster care before she finds her forever home. Help us save more animals like Cannoli and Give Fur Life at furkids.org/donation.
💉Our monthly vaccine and microchip clinic was a success once again, with over 135 dogs and cats receiving care! Huge thanks to Petco Love for helping us make affordable vet care accessible to our community.
💙 What a way to wrap up ! We were excited to several cats and dogs start their next chapter in loving homes. Thank you, PetSmart Charities! Did you see the billboards we put up around town to promote? We were able to put up multiple billboards in the area thanks to the support of PetSmart Charities!
📷 Some of our longest-stay cats and dogs had a special visitor—Albert from ! We shared their stories in hopes of helping them find the loving homes they deserve. Thank you Albert for coming to visit!
🐱 Six years of waiting, and Ally’s forever family finally found her! We are overjoyed to share that one of our longest residents is now living the life she has been so patiently waiting for. Congratulations to this sweet girl and her loving new family!

‼️ Help us give Cannoli the best recovery possible! ‼️

Meet Cannoli, a 4-month-old puppy who has already endured so much in her short life. We rescued her from an overcrowded animal control, she was suffering from a painful, untreated broken femur - an injury she has been struggling with for weeks. To give her the best chance at a happy, pain-free life, veterinarians had to amputate her leg.

Just two days ago, Cannoli underwent surgery, and is now in foster care, beginning her long road to recovery. Her vet bills have been costly, and we need your support to continue saving animals like her.

Furkids is in the middle of Give Fur Life, our biggest fundraising campaign of the year, and we're working toward a $100,000 goal to prepare for the busy puppy & kitten season ahead - a time when hundreds of young animals are desperate for a second chance.
