I just read this on one of my Facebook grooming groups. This makes me so sad. I too have dogs that shake or don't want to come into my salon. But once the owners are gone they settle and are usually happy or at least more relaxed. We as groomer try our best to make the grooming process as less stressful as we can. Of course there are bad groomers out there, trust your instinct on that one. But know that just because your dog shakes doesn't mean we are mistreating them. Remember, we are doing things that may not be your dogs favorite thing to do such as, nails, bath, brushing, drying etc... We do the best we can for each individual dog as they are all different. If your dog shakes at drop off and you are responding to them you are actually encouraging the behavior. Teaching them that when they act like that they will get extra attention.
I feel for the groomer who posted this post as we do get attached to your pet and we love them as if they were ours.
I am thankful for the clients I have for trusting me with their pet even though some put on a show at drop off. I also want to apologize for any ears or anything that went home uneven. I do the best I can even when they don't hold their heads straight or stand up. π₯°
