Information About Us

The leading cause of death in dogs and cats remains being put to death in our nation’s pounds and animal shelters – over seven million every year! is to prevent cruelty, neglect, and needless deaths by fighting over-population through spaying and neutering. History:
Dr. Land became involved with the local Humane Society in 1976, where she served ten years on the Board of Dire

ctors, and fostered over 300 homeless animals. She opened Pet Vet in 1987 after receiving her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia. Project Spay/Neuter was created in 1996 to provide subsidized and low cost spays/neuters. In 1997 she and her staff received specialized training in pediatric sterilization. Since that time, Dr. Land has perfected these procedures to provide the lowest possible cost, while assuring the utmost in safety and fastest recovery time possible for the patient. In October of 2002, Pet Vet and Project Spay/Neuter moved into a new clinic on Martin Road. Although we offered free and subsidized spays until November 2008, Project Spay/Neuter lost its tax-deductible status and was dissolved in 2004. To date, Dr. Land has personally paid for over $13,000.00 in free or subsidized spays/neuters. In 2009 Animal Birth Control was created to replace Project Spay/Neuter. In February 2010, Animal Birth Control was approved as a tax-deductible non-profit organization. Hopefully the donations and grants will begin again, in order for us provide free and subsidized spays those in need again soon. She is originally from Norway, however she received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia in 2005. Dr. Voci has proven to be an excellent surgeon and valuable asset to our team. We have logged every spay/neuter since 1996. On November 15, 2007 Dr. Land preformed her 50,000th sterilization! As of 12-31-2009 our doctors have preformed a combined total of 62,932 spays/neuters! We are not a full service veterinary hospital. Services we provide:
Spaying and neutering
Vaccinations and worming
Heartworm and flea control
Annual exams and testing
Minor illnesses and injuries

Services we refer to full-service hospitals or specialists:
Hospitalization, Intensive Care
Emergency care or major trauma
X-rays, ultrasounds, and EKG’s
Complex or involved diagnostics and surgery
Treatment of serious diseases
Treatment/Isolation of Potentially Contagious Patients

We are first and foremost a high quality, low cost spay/neuter clinic. Donations are greatly appreciated. We also run an outpatient clinic to support and subsidize the spay/neuter clinic. Your donations help us:
Spay the pets of low-income, disabled, unemployed, and elderly owners at little or no charge. Your patronage in our outpatient clinic helps us:
Spay and neuter pets for the general public at very low rates. Spay and neuter pets for other charitable animal welfare organizations at even lower rates. Teach specialized spay/neuter techniques to other veterinarians, veterinary students, and veterinary nurses. Provide information on low-cost and subsidized spay/neuter programs, pediatric spay/neuter, and neuter-before-adoption programs to other animal welfare organizations throughout the country, and beyond. Please spay and neuter your pets and encourage others to do the same. You can also shop on our online store!!! https://www.myvetdirect.com/petvetwt/

Well we thought we should introduce our new Pet Vet employee Bandit. We are a foster failure for sure. He was gonna be up for adoption, but we fell in love with him. And he has medical issues and needs our extended TLC from surviving 2 substantial injuries. Thankfully Feral Cat Program saved him from being a outside cat trying to stand his ground getting beat up from many fights. But he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He is working everyday here and learning his greeter position very well. Say hello to him next time your in our office.

April is one of my favoite foster cats. She is so lovable she got adopted and now returned because the lady decided she just didn’t want a cat.
April didn’t ask for this. We were so happy for her. And now my heart breaks for her.
I call her my super model. She has such a beautiful face!
