Labrador Friends of the South (LFS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of homeless Labrador Retrievers. Thank you.~

We are based out of ATLANTA, GA. LFS relies solely on donations, fund-raising events and adoption fees to function and continue saving and placing homeless Labradors. We do not receive any state or federal funding. LFS is an all volunteer organization of people who give their time, effort, and love for labs to protect and save them from the perils of pet over-population and irresponsible pet owner

ship. Our ultimate goal is to help these dogs find new, loving, forever homes.

Forever Update 🏡🐾❤️ We are at 11 years with Remi (formally Inky) and 3 years with Charlie. They are both doing great, love playing together and enjoy their 3 human siblings.

🐾 Meet Arrow 🐾
Arrow is part of our ✨ Golden Retriever / Lab Mix ✨ litter. Arrow and his 4 sisters arrived at our vets office yesterday. The vet said the pictures do not do these puppies justice and that they are completely adorable! Arrow is getting up to date on his shots and will be available for adoption in the next couple days! Get your apps in soon! I don’t see these sweet babies lasting long!

Forever Update on Coco Puff! 🏡❤️🐾
Coco has calmed into her new home nicely, and is tolerating my cat Morris very well! Morris had a come to Jesus meeting with her when he got mad about not being able to move around his house without being pounced on, and apparently Coco took heed! LOL They will now lay on the sofa within a few inches of each other! They are both being fed at the same time twice a day and sit close to each other while I prepare their food! I wish I had a picture of this to share!
Coco is also walking nicely with me, using a prong collar and she responds quickly to “heel”, and getting used to seeing other dogs on our walks. Deer, not so much LOL
She learns quickly, is very smart & easy to work with, gets what I want when instructing her. That’s huge because with some dogs you have to try different approaches/techniques to be able to be understood, but she gets it the first time!
She’s following me everywhere in the house, I have to pay attention because she can be in my space at any time! She’s very sweet & attentive to me, definitely bonded! Gave her her first bath yesterday....I was soaked afterwards LOL Must teach her to stay in tub next time!
I am so happy that the first week together was not a preview of what life with her was going to be! I talked to your trainer who gave me some effective information and tips that helped immensely! He talked me off the cliff!
I am so happy I found Coco and brought her into my life! I love her to pieces!♥️

🐾 Foster Update on Adoptable Lucid 🐾
Lucid arrived to the trainer very nervous and insecure. We realized the previous resource guarding over those who cuddling him was fear based which made him reactive towards other dogs. In addition to training, lucid has been going to daycare and other social interactions, inside house with other dogs as well as outside in the yards with other dogs. He is adapting very well and plays well with others with no reacting or nipping/growling. He has give appropriate corrections if the situation warranted.
From a training perspective he is shy and nervous but is very smart and very food motivated. He has learned quickly and knows basic commands, sit, down, place and has leash manners.
Lucid will need a patient owner and someone who has assertive energy and leadership, not someone to coddle or baby him, e.g., he cannot be carried everywhere as this will reinforce his nervousness.

Lacey crossed the Rainbow Bridge 💔🌈🐾
We had to say good-by to our beautiful yellow lab Lacey last Friday. We are so grateful that you entrusted her care to my husband and I back in June of 2013. We had agreed to foster her first but adopted her as soon as we met her! Her name at the time was Debbie, but she became our Lacey. She had been heartworm positive and needed about 6 months of low-key activity following her treatment, so it was a while before she showed us her true personality. We became attached to her very quickly! She was 2 yrs when we adopted her and had already had a litter of puppies. We don’t know much about her life before she joined our family but do know that we made sure that she had a great life with us. Lacey loved her tennis balls, long walks, and being the center of attention. In the past two years, she had multiple episodes of vertigo which affected her balance and caused a tilt to her head. Dr. C said that the episodes had caused brain lesions. She was a trooper and adjusted to staying on the first floor of our home and shorter walks. Her hind legs began to fail, and she developed digestive disorders this past year that special food and medications no longer successfully treated. Our home is so quiet now, and I catch myself looking for her constantly to be by my side. She brought such joy to our family!

Forever Update on Ryder!
This big boy turned 11 today! Ryder had his limb amputated in early September of 2023. The oncologist said he had anywhere from 4-10 months. Sixteen months later, he’s still living his best life. He had a great romp in the snow today and celebrated another trip around the sun. He’s the best boy in the world! ❤️❤️

Forever Update on Ripley and Jonesie! 🏡❤️

Ripley and Jonesie are doing so well together since adding Jonesie to our family in September. They hardly go anywhere in the house or yard without each other. Jonesie does so well with our elderly cat (who just turned 17), and is patient and kind with our two boys, 10 and 14. It’s really like she’s always been with us, or was certainly meant to be.

🐾 Foster Update on Adoptable Tesla 🐾
As you can tell by the second picture, Tesla’s settling in nicely 😂 He’s still learning the house rules (accidents happen!), but he’s doing better every day. Tesla has done well so far off-leash in the front yard! He’s mostly calm and quiet, unless playtime calls! He’s a cuddle bug who loves being close by. And with a good chew toy or puzzle, he’s pretty good about staying out of trouble. This big goofball is stealing our hearts! ❤️

🐾 Foster Update on Adoptable Rivian 🐾
He has been great! He is the snuggliest boy too 🤗 Rivan has done very well with both my others dogs and is getting better with house training everyday! He has also continued to do great in a crate and has learned house to sit and lay down! Rivian will make a wonderful, loving dog for a great family!

🐾 Foster Update on Tesla 🐾
This sweet boy is a total cuddlebug who loves to play fetch and explore. He’s still learning his manners (nipping while playing is a work in progress!), but he’s such a quick learner and has been very easy to train. Tesla sleeps soundly through the night and is improving every day in his crate. Tesla also has been enjoying our short adventures in the front yard. Overall, Tesla is an amazing puppy and has been a joy to have him in our home!

Happy ❄️ Snow ❄️ Day from Adoptable Rivian! Rivian went into his foster home last night, just in time for his first snow day! So far he has done great with his four legged foster siblings and also did great in the crate last night. Rivian is a super sweet and snuggly boy. We are still working on house training, he has one little accident but otherwise has done great! Rivian would do well in any home!

Tesla enjoyed his first night in his new foster home. He LOVES snuggles and makes sure he is right behind you when doing anything around the house. So far, no accidents in the house and he has whined when he has needed to go out to the bathroom. Tesla would make a great addition to any home!

Welcome adorable Phoebe and Rachel! These two sweet girls found theirselves in need of a Christmas miracle after ending up in a kill shelter. Rachel and Phoebe are sisters and around 11 months.
