It's been a very rough winter and spring here in the valley. A brutally cold late winter followed by inches upon inches of rain which transformed our flat heavy clay soil to foot deep mud absolutely everywhere for well over a month. It's still deep in many spots, but at least now the frost line is gone allowing water to drain. The mares contended with it all and have finally been rewarded with the pasture. And they are in heaven. You can't tell from the photo, but the pasture is still extremely soggy and there is standing water throughout. Even so, early this morning, all but two of them were down sleeping in a drier section. We're supposed to be drop close to freezing two nights this week, so I'm praying that slows down the biting fly hatch and the mares can continue to enjoy the pasture into June. These ladies deserve it :)

Honey of a Jewel by NRHA World Champion Heza Nu Jewel and her 2021 c**t by Double Loaded Gun. Indy was expected over the 4th of July but was born last week! Really cool prospect for someone wanting a reiner with plenty of cow and speed.
