Spike the crested gecko made a short appearance this morning when he ventured out from his cork tube! Many of our early visitors of Lizard Land may remember getting to meet Spike up close and personal (and may have been pooped on too)! Spike and his lady, Princess Leia, served as ambassador reptiles in years past. Today they are living a slower paced life in the quiet confines of their retirement terrarium. This pair is still on display however, they are nocturnal and donā€™t often make daytime appearances.
You can find us and Spike here at Lizard Land from 12-5PM today!

This week has been a big week for new arrivals. Our largest arrival - and now the longest and heaviest reptile at lizard land - is without question, Judith the Burmese python. Judith is a staggering 14ā€™ long and weighs in north of 80lbs. She, along with our other large scaled critters, will be making their way into the super sized enclosures of the new building in the next few months! We are so happy to have Judith with us here, and we are so grateful for her generous and loving owner for entrusting us with her care.

Happy Fatherā€™s Day from the crew at Lizard Land, and one of the best fathers of the bird world - the emu!
Did you know that Emus are fantastic Dads? Once a female has laid her eggs, she will abandon them and the male will take over. An emu father is so dedicated that he does not eat, drink, or move other than to turn his dark green eggs, half of which may not even be his babies.

Our box turtle pen is buzzing with activity after last nights rain! Here we have Chippy the box turtle cruising up for some of todayā€™s breakfast of fruit and crickets.
Although box turtles are superficially similar to tortoises in terrestrial habits and overall appearance, they are members of the American pond turtle family.

Announcement!!
We have passed the framing inspection!
With the framing inspection approved we are now able to move on to electrical as well as heating and air conditioning.

You can see Paul in the massive window opening of our new Smooth Fronted Caiman exhibit. This will be our largest exhibit once completed measuring in at 15ā€™x10ā€™x10ā€™.

Building this monstrosity is taking a little longer than expected. In the past we have built many smaller environments. Building 10 room sized environments each of which is customized for the animals that they house is no easy task but we are always up for a challenge. Completion is scheduled for fall.

We hope everyone is as excited as we are!
