Sometimes the shortest amount of time makes the biggest impact.
Thats what happened today to Hector's Mommy of 1 year and 1 month.
See Hector's story is like alot of dogs stories.
Surrendered to a high kill shelter because they r too old ...seniors...don't move like they used too.
Hector and his mate, a yorki were surrendered to our high kill shelter, Russell County-Phenix AC in August of 2020.
We graciously stepped up for them both and the lovely Ms Angela Rucker Davis gave him his freedom ride!!
Hector was the SWEETEST boy, even with his ears cut off right down to the bare minimum.
How i wondered, why I yelled? I never could understand how a human could alter their looks and then throw such a loyal companion away like trash when their loyalty is worth life itself.
Hector was always overlooked. People said he was scary. Pitty, could not be trusted.
Little did they know this dog was the definition of NANNY!
HE loved everyone! Cleaned the cats, became the meet n greeter, made newbies feel welcome.
Years went by and he was loved here. He had structure, a routine. Lot's of friends and tons of loving! I took him for car rides, pup cups, trips to Lowe's.
Us being a Sanctuary didn't mind him being here because thats what we stand for!
Then one day in 2024, I get a call from a lady named Tiffany and she's interested in Hector!! She loves the oldies and something about him caught her eye!
We arranged a day for her to meet him! It was love at first sight!
Tiffany took Hector home in November of 2024 and gave Hector one hell of a life in 1 year and 1 month.
Hector passed today of bone cancer. It hit him fast, and hit him hard.
I know his mamma is crushed as she loved him so much! She gave him unlimited jeep rides, top off, trips to see Santa, friends...he loved every minute of it and everyone he met became his fan club.
The feeling i feel in my heart is something I cannot explain..I always wonder if these babies know how much I love them and just want to do right by them. Give them everything they deserve and then some. Not for them to feel abandoned by any means, even in their weakest moment in life, the good-bye.
Hector, I love you. We all loved you. Thank you for giving us your finest moments, your shinning moments when u would jump from the ground all the way up into a open window in the car, to just sit there knowing the car will start sometime.
My Dearest Tiffany ♥️
Thank you for giving that boy a fabulous year, and being his mommy. You truly are and always will be his angel.
See you at the 🌈 bridge Hector. Sugi and Mason are there waiting for you.
