We are a private Hunter Jumper Training stable that provides top quality professional service in a relaxed atmosphere with a strong emphasis on safety. The goal of EGRC is to run an all-inclusive training program. We pride ourselves on being an intimate training stable that emphasizes quality over quantity. This allows u

s to help each client to maximize their training experience. We also strive to make horse ownership easy for the busy owner by providing full-service grooming and having the peace of mind that if your schedule does not allow you make it to a scheduled lesson that your horse will be schooled by a trainer.

Taylor won a few classes on her amazing En Point, Ella won her first rated class on Barnum Point, Jocko was 2 in his 1.0 classic and Savvy won son good ribbons in her 2’9 hunters!

- When my instructor repeats to me: ′′Straighten your shoulders and open your chest!” He’s not just teaching me how to stand up. He's teaching me that in life we should always walk straight and face problems head on.

- When my instructor asks me to lower my legs and keep them close to the horse, he teaches me that in life we do not allow distractions and that little is enough to deviate from his path.

- When my instructor tells me "Too much hand, don't hang on to the reins! "He teaches me to give and not to take, with the greatest respect of others.

- When he yells and repeats endlessly: "Look forward in the direction you want to go!” He teaches me the importance of setting goals and never losing sight of them to achieve them.

- When I ask to move up or do more and my instructor says I'm not ready, he teaches me that in life you must always respect your rhythm and never skip the steps.

- When I fall and get back up, I learn that there are always setbacks, times when we back up, but the important thing is to get up more determined than before.

- If I hold my breath during a ride and he jokingly tells me "breathe! You are purple!” I understand that you have to let your emotions flow in order to get rid of them.

- When at the end of the course I am happy with the work done and my instructor says to me′ ′Well done, thank your teacher′′ I know he is not referring to himself but to my horse.

- Now you, you who are watching a rider pass in the saddle, keep saying that riding is not a sport because it is the horse that does everything. I agree. Horse riding is not a sport. It is a life lesson.

To say we are proud of our young horse Barnum Point is an understatement! This young horse tried his very best today and was fabulous in the baby Greens winning 1st and 2nd. Although honestly the ribbon doesn’t even matter …… to be able to produce a horse of this caliber is an honor and it will be fun to see what he does in his career 💕💕

Our Story

Elk Grove Riding Club is a small family run Hunter Jumper Training stable that provides a top quality professional service in a relaxed atmosphere with a strong emphasis on safety. The mission of Elk Grove Riding Club is to run a small and all-inclusive training program. We pride ourselves in being an incredibly successful training stable that emphasizes quality over quantity.

By keeping the training barn small it allows us to ride and school each horse personally rather than having an assistant/working student ride and it allows small personal detail oriented lessons without the stress of a crowded arena.

We try to have a nice balance of going to an “A” show once a month while attending smaller shows with the young horses or less advanced clients or just good cheap practice to stay tuned.

Elk Grove's Team: Janet Jones - Owner/Trainer Janet has been working as a professional since 2000. She spent her early years in Southern California learning from some of the best professionals in the industry including George Meyer and Gail Ross along with their daughter Jennifer Meyer. This has allowed her to develop what is best described as old fashioned horsemanship. She shows in both the AA rated Hunter and Jumper divisions locally in British Columbia at Thunderbird as well as competing at the large California shows such as Hits Thermal, The Oaks, Showpark, and Menlo.
