Thank you to everyone who donated food for our holiday pet food drive. We were able to donate over 800 pounds of food to Grandpaws Foundation!! ✨Service opportunity!✨This year, the SCVMA Team Members Group is partnering with Grandpaws Foundation in a pet food drive. The Grandpaws Foundation provides food for the pets of low income senior citizens in this area. If you are interested in helping, we just need places to put collection boxes. If your hospital would like to put a collection box in their lobby, please send a direct message to this page. We have 12 wrapped boxes ready to go. If we run out of boxes, you can still participate using your own collection box. We will collect all the pet food during the first week of January. Happy holidays! ❤️😃🐶🐱

We support team members from all areas of the veterinary hospital and respect each member's contribution to veterinary medicine, patient and client care. Today begins National Veterinary Technician Week! Thank you to all the technicians who work so hard. How are you promoting the profession this week?
Some ideas:
1. Submit a press release to your local news outlet educating the public about technicians and this career path.
2. Visit a school and talk about the veterinary technician career.
3. Create a board in your lobby describing your technicians and what roles they do in the hospital.
4. Create a social media post educating the public on the roles technicians play in society.
5. Join your local, state or national technician association to support their efforts to improve the field.
6. Celebrate your technician colleagues with words of encouragement or small gifts.

The SCVMA is the nations largest regional veterinary medical association representing over 700 hospitals and 1200 members. We consider ourselves to be the source for all items related to veterinary medicine in Los Angeles and Orange County, California.

This is so important to remember. Care is not black and white, good or bad. There is a spectrum and we need to respect owner’s choices. More compassion, less judgment. ❤️

College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Missouri will begin offering an online bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology this Fall. Great news for those who want to further their education while still working.

The Missouri Coordinating Board of Higher Education has given the green light for the MU College of Veterinary Medicine to begin offering a bachelor's degree in veterinary technology.
