Christmas lights help complete the Christmas tree look, but to the curious and mischievous pets they can be dangerous. If your pet likes to mess with Christmas trees it's a good idea to position lights away from the bottom where they can reach them. Lights can be chewed on and broken and ingested, and if plugged in could cause burns if they chew on the cords. Always supervise pets around decorations and when not home always unplug your lights.

From flicker to fire hazard, candles can be a cozy addition to the holidays but open flames can be risky. Many pets, especially cats can be very curious and may investigate the candles and might knock them over or get too close, risking burns or starting a fire. If you light a candle, place the candle out of reach of pets and monitor the candle and pets.

If decoration are ingested, can cause intestinal obstruction that could lead to surgical removal. Keep tinsel off the tree and ribbon stored away safely from pets.

Did you know cockatiels have a special way they can express emotions? They can!
They use the feathers on their head, called the crest to express emotions. The crest will be either flat, half-raised or raised dependent on theirmood. A completley flat crest can indicate that the bird is agitated, while a fully raised crest can indicate that the bird is curious or content. A happy and excited cockatiel will tend to have their crest flat against their head with the end of the feathers curled upwards.
