🎄 Senior Dump Season… Ugly Truth. Beautiful Response. 🎄

Every year, like clockwork, the week or two before Christmas brings an ugly trend to local shelters:
Senior dogs dumped so their owners can “make room” for a brand-new puppy.

But here’s where the story changes… because YOU showed up.

This week alone, your support helped us say YES to three seniors who deserved so much more than a cage and a deadline:

🐾 Delaney — a senior boy whose body showed the worst of human cruelty. We lost him, and it shattered us. But because of YOU, Delaney did not die scared, cold and alone. He had almost a week filled with love, warmth, medical care, gentle hands, and his very first Christmas. His life ended with dignity — and that matters.

🐾 Frost — a 14-year-old blind PomChi king who's now settling into the throne he absolutely deserves. He’s learning that Christmas means safety, snacks, and no expectations except to be loved for exactly who he is and allowed to bump into everything he likes learning the ropes.

🐾 Pearl — our 10-year-old lumpy-bumpy mastiff mama, retired from a life where her worth was measured in puppies. Now? Christmas is finally about HER. Love, softness, attention, and a life that isn’t about what she can produce — only about who she is.

Yes — it’s a sad reality that seniors get discarded like old decorations.
But because of donors, sponsors, and supporters like YOU, these dogs get:

✨ A home; A Family
✨ Dignity
✨ And a holiday filled with compassion

We can’t stop every surrender.
But we can make sure abandoned seniors don’t spend their final days forgotten.

To close our December at Animal Hospital of Regency Park in New Port Richey, FL we are a little over $3500 on our bill and nothing would make it more Merry and Bright then to start the new year off with a lower balance (To raise right back up again with more pups who need us!).

🐾🫧 Everyone welcome "Pearl" 🫧🐾

What we know so far 👉🏻
🔺Miss Pearl is approx 10-12 years old and has had many, many...many litters. 💔
🔺 Very underweight and need's to gain approx 20lbs.
🔺High heartworm positive.
🔺She has lost over half her muscle mass in her rear legs most likely due to living confined or without little exercise.
🔺 We've found two masses that will need to be tested.

Miss Pearl has been started on a pain management and hydrotherapy routine to start rebuilding the lost muscle mass. Heartworm pre-treatment has begun along side a weight-gain program. So it has certainly been a busy day for this old gal, but the best thing out of it all.

Miss Pearl will be in a foster home for Christmas ! NOT dumped outside scared and alone or sitting in a shelter at her age homeless. All because of our amazing community - YOU!

🐾🪽 "Delaney" 🪽🐾

This is the pupdate that breaks all our hearts, and leaves us all sobbing as we muster up the strength to share with the community. Despite all medical intervention and treatments, Delaney's exhausted body failed to respond and it was time to let him be at peace.

For all the things we could say, we think his medical hospice momma's words say it better than we ever could.

Please keep our medical team in your thoughts, and hug your pups extra tight tonight. Our sweet Delaney is now flying high, pain-free and whole again.

"Oh Delaney.

My strong, strong boy. You tried so very hard to stay with us, but your kidney's and body were ready to rest. I wish we could have met so much sooner, because you certainly were a momma's boy. You mustered all your strength to try to follow me, wag every single time our eyes met and to give me kisses every chance you got.

You would wag every time one of the pups walked by and wagged even harder when they came to snuggle with you. You have been the only pup Dillinger has ever shared his wishbone with, and boy did you love that damn thing. We got to spend so much time swinging, feeling the breeze on our cheeks, listening to the rain and generally just snuggling. Memories i will forever cherish.

Your heart and pure will to survive as long as you did, to find us, to stay with us and spend as much time as you did with this little community is just a sheer testament to the power of unconditional love.

If love could have worked more than medicine and treatments , love alone would have made you whole instantly.

My sweet Delaney, I'm so sorry and shattered that we could not save you. I tried to share a little Christmas and so many memories with you. I hope you knew how much I loved you my little warrior.

Until we walk together again, play hard in Valhalla with all the other pups.

Delaney's medical foster wanted to make one wish come true for him today, and that was for him to have a little Christmas all his own. With Delaney's future so unknown, we needed to know he got to experience even just a little Christmas surrounded by his support group and Rugaz family.

So his medical foster ran home and set up their Christmas tree, got him his very own present and did the tradition of a clay paw print ornament to be added to the family tree.

We truly hope Delaney knows how very loved he is, and we will keep fighting for him as long as he's wanting to fight. We are all wishing for a Christmas miracle that this amazing boy's body responds to treatments and he can experience Christmas morning feeling much better, but if he has other plans we at least got to give him a little Christmas cheer today.

Make sure to hold your babies tight, and kiss their sweet heads under the glow of your Christmas tree's light's tonight.
