Meet "Tony"...
This very sweet bulldog boy should be no more then 40lbs... He is currently 83lbs!!!! He is quite literally dying from being obese...
The shelter reached out to Rugaz Rescue Inc. to help get this boy out of a bad situation and when we got him... All our jaws dropped and we just wept for this boy who wants nothing more then to walk to you for some love... However he can't walk more then a few steps without having to stop and catch his breathe...
This IS NOT okay... Being this obese is JUST as bad for their bodies as having malnutrition. It is killing his organs, on top of Big Tony is Heartworm Positive!
Our hearts ACHE for this boy... He has been through SO much! He is absolutely filthy, his skin is stretched so thin his hair has stopped growing in areas. He has SO much weight on and around his chest it is difficult to breathe ontop of the heart damage from the heartworms...
Tony deserves to be loved. He deserves to be healthy! He is being put on a VERY strict weight loss plan that is Veterinarian monitored and managed so he can lose the weight steadily along with a small exercise plan to build his muscle mass back up. Tony cannot even start Heartworm Treatment until we get his weight down to take the pressure off his heart...
Tony just wants to love everyone and everything. Canines, Felines, humans - you got it. He deserves our love in return - The love of health.
We do need your help now if you are able to spare just $1.00 towards all his Veterinarian care (Surgeries/Weight loss management urine/bloodwork and heartworm treatment) or are able able to be a sponsor hero for even one bag of his weight management food?
We've complied a quick little Amazon Wishlist for bags of his weight management food, a XL crate (Sadly he will not fit into any of our larges at his current weight/size) and supplements he needs to continue his health plan. Can you be a hero and sponsor even 1 of Tony's much needed items?

🐾🙏🏻 Hospice pup "Meyers" needs our help now 🙏🏻🐾
Our sweet Hospice-Therapy program pup Mr "Meyers" is under-going heart testing along with much, much more today.
Yesterday afternoon during pup-play time Meyer's had a syncopal episode and now we're scrambling to find out why...
Many of you have met Meyer's at public events or through the Pause 4 Paws therapy pup visits and know that his tail never stops. What makes this boy's day is meeting new people, getting good boy pats, playing with his fur siblings or helping children read at the local library...
Meyer's is such an amazing soul and we need your help getting to the bottom cause and how to properly treat/manage him for the future... Heart testing (ECG, Chest Films, Echo Etc) are extremely costly but, Meyers is worth EVERY penny! We just need your help if you can!
Meyer's gives so much to our community between local programs, therapy and wellness visits... Can the community give just a little back to him so he can get right back out there tail wagging to be with you 🙏🏻🐾🙏🏻💓
Meyer's current attending Veterinarian: Animal Hospital of Regency Park in New Port Richey, FL and is scheduled for a consult with Merrick Fultz MA, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology).

Our Hospice and Sanctuary house has a dream for 2024! Our team pour's our heart and soul's into each and every single pup, whether it's our Rugaz Rescue Inc. pups or pups in the community we assist through our "Keeping Pets At Home" program.
We cannot thank FOX 13 News - Tampa Bay and James Tully for spotlighting our Hospice program and dawning us with their esteemed "What's Right With Tampabay" Title.

🚨 "Vader" Pup Date... 🚨
Please keep Vader in your thoughts during this difficult time...
Vader came to Rugaz Rescue Inc. with the typical shelter kennel cough but due to how severely elongated his palate is and how closed the nares are he is having an exceptionally difficult time over coming this...
He's had a severe cough that we've been battling trying to get him to respond to different treatments but it turned dire quickly...
Our amazing VetMed team at Animal Hospital of Regency Park in New Port Richey, FL have been working with us around the clock trying everything to get Vader to respond and he was doing well for about a week... but he has turned south and we need him to respond to something quickly before it's too late...💔💓
Vader has been moved to supportive care with fluids, liquid nutrition, addition of more medications and we've reached out to an amazing resource to borrow an oxygen concentrator with oxygen chamber box to assist Vader with breathing.
Vader is a fighter and as long as he continues to wag his tail, give kisses and fights to stay here with us we will not stop fighting for him...
However, we need your help to not only financially continue this fight for Vader but with resources as well...
One of the medications Vader is on for his severe non-stop coughing is $85.99 for a week supply... We are going on week 3 with him... This does not include his hospital bills that continue to mount at Animal Hospital of Regency Park in New Port Richey, FL, other medications, supplements and care. We just went over the $1000 mark on his medical account alone...
This doesn't even touch his surgeries that he will need when he's beaten this crud and is healthy enough to start them...
...Rugaz Rescue Inc. need's your help to keep fighting for Vader's life...
Vader was thrown away by his previous owner and it is clear he has not had an easy or nice life. He is fighting right now to live the life he has only just begun to be shown being a spo
We wanted to share a cute moment from dog-Christmas yesterday getting everyone together.
The little amazing hospice boy "Creature" made a little fort all his own with every color of toy he could get and made a squeak soundtrack all night 😂😂
To say his Christmas was a hit, is an understatement...
This is what it's ALL about! <3
Okay, everyone Awwwwwwwww in 3...2...1.... Go!
Adoptable Babies "Coal" and "Regin" enjoy playing with their duckie while they wait for their forever homes.
I mean... Who can't not "D'awwwwww" at this adorableness!
For more information on these itty-bitties or others from this litter please submit an application on our website www.RugazRescue.org or send us a DM!
"Theodore" (Formally French Onion)
Has left the shelter and heading into his Fospice home with a medical plan to keep him confrontable and happy for the weekend of an amazing bucket list!
Due to the amazing relationship with our county shelters dogs like Theo have the opportunity to go "home" with our origination while being closely monitored on a medical plan with a Fospice family.
So these pups who are terminal and would normally not make it out of the shelter, now have a dignified and loved ending. Each pup are apart of our Rugaz Rescue Inc. family and when they pass, their ashes are returned to us to be laid to rest in our Memorial Garden so they are forever home...
Our Living Memories program would not be possible without community donations and local companies sponsoring the bucket list for each and every one of these amazing pups!
Please join us this weekend following Theo's Hospice Bucket List weekend through his photos and videos.

Hurricane Idalia PUp-Date...
Our Memory Garden and Pup Yard took a beating but nothing we cannot replace or repair...
It's still a very wet and windy day so the pups are only going out for small monitored spurts but all in all we fared MUCH better then those effected by the direct eye!
For referenbce on how much water we've gotten over night - The pup pool was drained down to 2" of water and its over flowing now...
We have some servere flooding all around us so getting to/from the Vet office will not be an option until the flooding receeds but we have power and when it's out we now have the generator back-up so we can hold our own with the pups until the flooding goes down and we can make it back and forth to the Vet office!
This storm could have gone much, much worse had it taken it's original path or turned. We were VERy lucky this time, and are now prepared for years to come thanks to our amazing community!
Hug and kiss your pooches tight today for us, and our thoughts are with all those effected far worse then us right now!
A Huge Thank you to James Tully with ABC Action News - WFTS - Tampa Bay and Animal Hospital of Regency Park in New Port Richey, FL for featuring "Ma'vie" and helping us get the education out on how these thermal burns happen and how to avoid them. Especially in this record breaking heat during summer months.
Please help us heal baby "Ma'vie"...
Baby Ma'vie came into a local shelter as a "stray" with burns down her back. They reached out asking if we could pick her up immediately that day and there was no hesitation... We were on the way...
There was no way to know just how extensive Ma'vie's injuries were until she was surgically shaved and cleaned... Once it was revealed how extensive her burns were, it was clear this was going to be a long and hard recovery for this beautiful girl...
We need your help to heal Baby Ma'vie... She will need laser therapy daily, medicated soaks, topical and oral antibiotics and to be kept in a sterile medical environment while she is so suspectable to environmental infections.
This is going to be a devastatingly expensive recovery, but it doesn't matter.
Ma'vie is only 7 weeks old and so far only knows the horrors of this world. She WILL know unconditional love and what beauty is in this world. We need your help to keep this promise to her.
Where there is a will, there will always be a way... Can you help us show Baby Ma'vie that not all humans are like the ones she has known...

"Leon" is out of the shelter and was on the road thanks to some amazing Freedom Sponsors and donors!
What does it mean to be a Rugaz Rescue Inc. pup, and what does it mean to all of us here at Rugaz Rescue Inc. to get a pup their freedom ride...? It means we drive through hail to get them home...
That's right... You hear the video correctly.. Mr Leon drove through hail to get to us, and we didn't second guess it for a second... The boy needed to get to medical care and home - through hail we go!
Sadly, we have received the information that we feared... Mr Leon is terminal and in much pain. We've got our amazing boy on a pain-management and comfort plan to spend the weekend having one amazing Bucket List filled experience before we must say goodbye...
So we will be looking for emergency sponsors to "Leon's Bucket List Weekend"!
Mr Leon will be having a professional photoshoot by Diamond in the Ruff Photography , A picnic lunch, A Sunset at the beach, trip to the store to pick out his own tag, toy and treat and anything else his little heart desires...
He's getting settled down for the night for a good grooming and to do movie-night with his Fospice family...
Do you have any ideas you would like to see added to the "Memories Are Forever" Bucket List Day please comment, share or send us a DM with your idea!
Do you have a local business' or like to sponsor Leon's day please comment or send us a DM... We sadly do not have much time so we are putting together an amazing two days for him through out the night

What a day here in Florida for our dogs...!
We have finally won decades worth of battles for our dogs and people!
SB 942 Passes 116 votes unanimously! It's now on the way for Governor Ron DeSantis to sign...
We can finally breathe and know our dogs now have equal rights all over our state without being profiled based off of the way they look.
A HUGE shout out to our amazing sister organization Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation for working tirelessly for the rights and lives of our dogs...
In Memory of all those we've lost...
In Honor of all our survivors... A VERY Special in Honor goes out to our 2009 MDAS Survivor Alumni and Therapy Dog Representative "Gator"... Who is alive today to get to see this! ❤
Much love to you ALL!
