❤️ FOSTER FAMILY OF THE YEAR !!!! ❤️

Out of our foster family’s these guys had it the hardest and wanted to acknowledge these beautiful souls today. They fostered Luna for about two months now and were going to foster to adopt but if only love was enough for this pup. Luna has a high prey drive so with their cats just wasn’t the perfect fit even tho the hearts were heavy. I want to acknowledge them for the amazing job they did at showing her love and commitment and taking care of her these past few weeks. And the kids for the heartfelt goodbye that didn’t make it easy to bring her to a new home today. Luna got a permanent home today and it’s to this kind family for reaching out and dropping everything to make it work and to save Lunas life and give her that chance to find a home of her own. This family needs kind words of how good of a job they did. For two devastated children it was a very tuff goodbye but need to see the good they did for Luna and how bright her future looks because of them and the kindness they showed to take her in. So hats off to you guys for the love the time and the tears that have this dog the bright future she has now thanks to all of you. Merry Christmas. Although your sad now remember it’s never good bye it’s only see you next time. Luna will always remember you guys and her Christmas pickle and the love you all share.

Luna Update ( ADOPTED)

So we did it we want to thank each and everyone who shared this beautiful girls story. Luna has been adopted. She was extremely nervous. And had a few fearful reactions but the new parents weren’t worried at all. They didn’t take her first impressions to heart and adopted her anyway. Now look at her spoiled with a new box of toys a huge backyard and no competition just a mom and a dad to love up on. Looking forward to this baby girls new adventure and seeing how she grows up. Way to go Luna. Congrats 🥳 on your new fur family member and just in time for Christmas.

This is RAWHIDE. It is what is used to make leather purses, shoes, sofas.

It is NOT a dog treat.

It is NOT digestible and and can cause a bowel obstruction- it can lodge in your dogs throat- it is toxic.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG RAWHIDE -if you feel the need to buy your pet a chew treat do your research. Read the ingredients. Save your pets life.

PICS FOR ATTENTION Cliff is fine .

If you choose to rescue animals, I am going to give you some sound advice - Grow thick skin and don't care what people think of you. I have known people to lose the battle with their minds and we just lost a kind, caring individual in my rescue network. Compassion fatigue is real, but nothing is worth your life. No pet. No rescue. No person's opinion. Nothing.

In rescue, that person that tells you what an angel you are and how wonderful you are every time you pick up a stray pet thrown at their door will also be the first person who tells people how your organization is worthless when you don't have space to pick up the 30th pet thrown off on their property. It's ok.

In rescue, the adopter that leaves you the five star review about how wonderful everyone has been will change that review quick when they return the pet even though you have spent hours trying to keep it in their home. One star reviews are ok.

In rescue, your friend will be your friend until you deny their application for a pet because they are a great friend but a terrible pet owner. That's ok too.

In rescue, you will answer 143 calls in a day (yesterday to be exact). But if you miss 6 calls in a row while you are in the shower, you will be the one who "never answers their phone". It's ok.

In rescue, other rescuers and random trolls will judge everything you do but never have time to pitch in a hand to help when they see something needing more attention. They will, however, have lots of time to talk about how they’d do it better while they harass and judge you. It will be ok.

In rescue, you will have to involve animal control and the police department sometimes. The people who you take pets from will hate you - and I mean REALLY hate you. Trust me, it's ok.

In rescue, pets will be put down and pets will die at the hands of abusers. We can't save them all - and that's ok. We save the ones that we can and pray for peace for the ones we can't.

I have been in the animal rescue world since 2009. I have dealt with every problem and every situation imaginable. I used to take some things to heart, then I realized - I am doing this for the animals, not for any person in this world. I have found my joy and no person will take that. If you are in rescue, don't let anyone or anything take your joy. Find peace that you will never please everyone. Find peace that you will never save them all. Never allow something you love to turn into something that ends your life.

Did you know small lead fragments can be present in hunter-harvested deer and bear, particularly in ground meat? Often, lead particles are too small to detect by sight or feel, making removal practically impossible. Lead is also a threat to eagles that feed on the remains of hunter’s harvests. Please consider using lead free ammunition.
The NYSDEC is looking for any deer hunters to volunteer for their lead-free ammunition project called “Gut Pile Ecology” Project this deer season which is focused on the impacts of lead ammunition on New York State eagle populations. Here is a link to the Hunters for Eagle Conservation site which has more information for those interested in the topic. To learn more see the links below.

DO NOT BUY DOGS FROM THE AMISH

We get calls every week from dog owners that have purchased a dog from the Amish, only to find out that their new best friend has significant issues to overcome. Unfortunately, dogs that come from the Amish do tend to have significant, lifelong behavioral problems.

For a quick background, the overwhelming majority of Amish “breeders” are not properly breeding dogs. They don’t breed for health, temperament, or the betterment of the breed, they breed exclusively for money. They are PUPPY MILLS.

Let’s say for example that they are breeding French bulldogs. They find a male and a female, regardless of health or behavioral concerns, and make the breeding happen. No thought was put into the health or quality of life of the puppies that will come out. No health testing the parents, no behavioral/temperament testing of the parents, etc.

Once the puppies are born, they are essentially left in a room with the mother until they are ready to be sold. No enrichment, no health testing, no socialization, nothing. When a prospective buyer comes along and sees the dogs in these conditions, they either feel sorry for them, or they have no clue that this isn’t normal.

Because these puppies were never socialized or cared for properly, they develop significant fear and anxiety issues, as well as difficulty potty training and crate training. We are dealing with several cases of aggression towards people and dogs, and these dogs all came from the Amish.

This is textbook backyard breeding, but on a huge scale, and it has only grown and grown in recent years.

If you are looking to get a deal on a purebred dog, there is no such thing. If you don’t want to spend thousands on a well bred puppy from a reputable and ethical breeder, that’s totally fine. But buying a dog for a discounted rate from the Amish (in our experience) comes with significant baggage.

If you must have a certain breed of dog but can’t afford to go to a reputable and ethical breeder, do your research and find a rescue or shelter that has that breed of dog. They are still an unknown quantity because you don’t know anything about their history, but you won’t be perpetuating inhumane breeding practices.

Wildlife and rabies exams for everyone in the rescue will be here once completed. This gives us the ability to foster and care for wildlife under a licenced wildlife facility. So we are legally allowed to rehab wildlife. We are currently working on building a facility to the MNR standards to have our own space and under our own licence.
