TLC Humane Society, legally recognized as Dahlonega - Lumpkin County Humane Society, was founded in 1977 and is Dahlonega, GA's only no-kill shelter. We are a licensed non-profit 501(c)3 rescue organization and have both dogs and cats available for adoption. The shelter sits on 5.87 acres of beautiful property which includes 3 dog parks, walking trails, a small block house with 2 cat rooms, a kitt

en room, quarantine and isolation runs, plus The Ruff House with 6 dog runs and the 12 dog run Carver Canine Castle for large dogs. As a private, non-profit organization, we are not affiliated with the ASPCA, Humane Society of the United States or Associated Humane Societies. TLC is not a government agency and receives no funding from federal, state or local governments. Our ability to care for the community’s animals is supported solely by adoption fees, donations, grants, bequests, and fundraisers. All contributions are tax-deductible (our federal tax id number is 58-1829089). We do our best to save as many animals as we can, but that's only possible with the help of our community and people like you. We are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to the animals of Lumpkin County and surrounding North Georgia area. Meet Georgie! 🍫🔬🐶💕

Georgie is an irresistibly sweet 5-month-old chocolate Labrador puppy with a heart as rich as his cocoa-colored coat. Larger and more laid-back than his brother Sheldon, Georgie is the epitome of puppy cuteness. His favorite pastime? Curling up in your lap, where he’ll melt your heart with his affectionate nature and playful spirit.

This little charmer is already showing signs of being a sharp and eager learner. With the right training and guidance, Georgie is bound to grow into a well-mannered, loyal companion. He’s fantastic with other dogs and adores human attention, making him a perfect fit for any family.

Aster has found her forever home!!! 😻🐾💕

After waiting so patiently, this beautiful and affectionate girl has met her perfect match. She’s now surrounded by a loving family who’s ready to provide her with all the care, attention, and cuddles she’s been dreaming of. We’re so excited for Aster as she embarks on this new chapter of her life, where she’ll be cherished and adored every single day!

Meet Sheldon! 🍫🔬🐶💕

Sheldon came in alongside his brother Georgie, and while they share a beautiful chocolate coat and an undeniable sweetness, they couldn’t be more different in size and personality. Sheldon is the smaller of the two and is always ready to play! Full of energy and enthusiasm, he’s the perfect playmate for anyone who loves a good game of fetch. While he might still be working on mastering the art of returning the ball, Sheldon is incredibly bright, and with a little training, he’ll have it down in no time—along with anything else you’d like him to learn.

What’s clear about Sheldon is his joyful, spirited nature. He’s always in motion, spreading fun and excitement wherever he goes. His playful personality makes him a perfect fit for an active family looking for a bundle of energy and love.

Houdini has found her forever home!!! 🎩🐰♥️

Another one of our most beloved companions has found her happily ever after! Houdini has been an absolute joy during her time with us. She’s undergone some major training, but let’s be real, she trained us just as much as we trained her. From her very specific needs, to her daily walk requirements, she kept us on our toes, and we wouldn’t have had it any other way.

We wish you nothing but the best, Lil’ “Dini!” Enjoy your new adventure. 💖

Nash has found his forever home! 😄💕🏐

Our always-on-the-move, fun-loving buddy, Nash, has officially been adopted! It was no surprise to us—his irresistible charm (those ears!) and his natural gift for making everyone around him smile meant he wasn’t going to be with us for long. Nash is the kind of dog who’s always ready to entertain, keeping a close eye on his humans to make sure they’re laughing at his every goofy move.

We’re beyond excited for him and can’t wait to hear about all the joy he brings to his new family. Nash, go out there and keep spreading those smiles!

Nessa has found her forever home! 💕💕💕

In the rescue world, we joke about dogs like Nessa being "dangerous dogs”—but not for the reasons you might think. It’s because they’re so incredibly adorable and sweet that everyone who meets them ends up wondering, “Could I adopt this dog?”

But when we saw Nessa with her new family, we knew she had found her perfect match. The bond they share was instant, and it was heartwarming to witness. While we’re thrilled for them, don’t think we’ll be letting them off the hook that easily! We’ll be eagerly awaiting updates and pictures (we’ll share, we promise!)

Our puppies don’t know what it means to run out of food, thanks to the incredible support of our community. We are truly fortunate to have so many caring individuals we can rely on, especially since we operate entirely on volunteer efforts with no state or government funding. Sparrow, the beloved adventure kitten from our "Pirates of the Caribbean" litter, has found his forever home! 😻💕🏴‍☠️ If you've been following this amazing litter (which made an appearance again this week), you might be wondering who Sparrow is and why you've heard so little about him. Well, Sparrow’s journey with us began the moment our lead caregiver, Christine, met him — and she couldn’t resist "fostering” him right away. You can see the early moments in the beginning of this reel! From day one, we knew Sparrow was special. He had one mission: to escape whatever situation he was in and get as close to a shoulder or lap as possible. Curious and full of energy, he was always into everything — and that hasn’t changed! These days, he’s just as mischievous and entertaining as ever, learning the ropes of walking on a harness, and keeping Christine and his new family on their toes with his antics. As you can see, Sparrow has quickly become the heart of his new family. After a round of playful “terrorizing,” he’s always welcomed with open arms for cuddles. Watching him choose his forever home was such a joy — it’s clear he knew exactly what he wanted! As for the snow... well, let’s just say it gave him a bit of a funny reaction! We know Sparrow will always bring joy, laughter, and a little mischief wherever he goes. We love you, Sparrow! It’s today! We’re so excited to see everyone there!!!

Napoleon can’t contain his excitement about the Plant Sale! Only 2 hours left to get your plants, hot dog lunch, raffle tickets, bake sale items and say hello to our pups and kitties 🐶 🐱 🌺 We will be out here until 2pm!

Thank you to everyone who donated towards her vet bills, we are only $146 away from our $5,000 goal ♥️ You all are the absolute best supporters!! She goes back to the vet next week for suture removal and then will have a follow up echo in 3 months.
