🤢🚑☠️☠️ March is Pet Poison ☠️☠️Prevention Month! Great reminder of what is safe and what isn’t from the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center. Print out and keep on the fridge to remind everyone what is safe and what isn’t. The list is just a fraction of unsafe products but great list of everyday foods we eat that they may or may not be allowed. Stay way from high fat foods as well can cause pancreatitis and can be life threatening, the threat is worse as they age.
🌺🌺🐰 Don’t forget with Easter coming in 40 days to be careful with the Easter Lilly’s/ any Lilly unless researched. . Be sure your pets can’t reach them. Cut the pollen stamens off especially with cats around, (dogs too) but especially toxic to cats. (The whole plant).
The Lilly likes to make a mess, cats/dogs can inadvertently walk on the pollen that falls everywhere then lick their paws. 🐾🐾🐾🎉
The water in the vase is toxic as well. Most cats wouldn’t mess with the Lilly due to its smell, so either don’t have it around or just be sure it not accessible, while removing the stamens. (Pollen ends). Many florists remove it since it does make such a mess, but double check if you have the plant. Not all Lilly’s are toxic, but the Easter, tiger, Peace and many more are. It can cause severe kidney failure.
Cats usually are discerning, but if really thirsty they could drink from the vase, or as stated walk through the pollen that drops. Any questions feel free to call Mapleshade Animal Hospital at 703-670-7668! Stay safe! ❤️🐾
