north of Roanoke, Virginia and carry specialized supplies and equipment for horses and riders of all types and age. We sell New to used apparel and riding equipment, and have a huge inventory on-hand to provide what you need quickly. Saddles-n-Stuff is located in Daleville, Virginia, off of Interstate 81 just north of Roanoke. Take exit 150 towards Daleville / Fincastle (220 North). Go approximately 1.7 miles past Lord Botetourt High School, and you'll see Saddles-n-Stuff on your left. Our hours are Monday thru Friday 12:00 - 6pm and Saturdays 10am - 4pm. Joe Fargis riding his Olympic Gold Medal Horse, Touch of Class to win the Gold in Los Angeles, 1984.

Joseph Halpin Fargis IV was born April 2, 1948, the same year as I. He is a little older than I am as my birthday is in November, LOL, sorry Joe. Nevertheless, Joe is one of the greatest American show jumping champions that has ever graced our sport and is still competing at Grand Prix level.

In 1984 Joe represented the United States Equestrian Team at the 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles where he won a gold medal in individual Show Jumping with the American-bred Thoroughbred, bay, mare Touch of Class beating Conrad Homfeld riding Abdullah who won the silver in an incredibly exciting jump off.

Joe participated on the American winning team in the Team Jumping in 1984, and again in 1988 in Seoul where he finished second while riding the Irish bred, liver chesnut, mare, Mill Pearl.

Harry de Leyer and Snowman
A true International Show Jumping combination that defied all odds. Snowman was a former plough horse that was saved from being slaughtered. He was bought for eighty dollars and after having his life saved became one of the most successful show jumping horses of all time with Harry de Leyer.

Snowman was known as the "Cinderella Horse" and was really a story of Rags to Riches when he became a member of the United States Equestrian Team. He had thousands of fans who followed his every step and competed in World Cups and Championships. In the United States, Snowman became a household name winning the National Championship and became the AHSA Horse of the Year. He was eventually inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame.

The Great Rodney Jenkins and the equally Great Idle Dice.

He was the first horse inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame.

His principal rider was the most successful show jumper in history, a member of 16 Nations’ Cup teams and ten World Championships, winning over 70 Grand Prix in his career. In 1987 he was the AGA Rider of the Year, AHSA Horseman of the Year, and took two Silver Medals at the Pan Am Games.

Together Idle Dice and Rodney Jenkins formed a bond that led to unprecedented success in American show jumping history, winning Grand Prix, Speed, and Puissance classes, often all at the same show.

We are busy planning for our upcoming Lexington Country Horse Show 1 and the Lexington Spring Welcome at the Virginia Horse Center.

The shows are USEF “National” Rated and recognized by the NCHJA VHSA, Maryland Horse Shows Association and Southwest Va Hunter Jumper Assn (SWVHJA) and includes qualifying classes for the Virginia Hunter Championships, presented by Markel Horse , and the Amy Y. Reistrup Equitation Challenge.

Classes will be held in the Anderson Coliseum and in the Reel Arena. No matter the weather, we’ve got you covered!
