This week we celebrated Evelyn's Birthday 🎂 She spoke "Walk On!" for the first time! What a special time with these three girls and our loving volunteers to celebrate the monumental progress of each of our riders. With two weeks of session under our belts, we just want to give a huge shout out to all our HORSE LEADER volunteers who have gone the extra mile in coming out each weekend to practice and work with our special horses on clarity, consistency and kindness. Leading horses in a therapeutic environment is so different from our day to day horsemanship. Our horses are handled by dozens of individuals daily and carry unsteady and often dysregulated riders. HAPPY MONDAY! Our spring schedule for Occupational Therapy and Therapeutic/Adaptive Riding filled January 10 and we have a wait-list for this session. Signup for the May-June session is open online. Volunteer Opportunities are open online for trained volunteers to sign up. We need 40 volunteers each day to walk beside riders and lead horses + barn buddies! Fill a need and feel the appreciation. 💙

We have the privilege of watching riders develop language skills while riding. Research shows that a significant number of of individuals with language delays eventually acquire language skills. In fact, a signficant number become fluent speakers, and even more achieve the ability to speak in phrases. The movement of the horse and strong social engagement are contributors to success.

Their team building / leadership development experience was a huge hit. Learning to throw a loop, ride horses, sort steers, lead miniature horses, eat an authentic cowboy brisket meal and enjoy some cowboy poetry made for a big day at the ranch.
