Meet Popcorn🍿

Popcorn is seeking rescue transfer due to a potenital leg issue. At times he will hold up his right front paw and limp, radiographs confirm there are no obvious injuries. There is no swelling or sensitivity when palpating the leg. He is receiving medication to help with any pain and inflammation, and what may be a potential abcess causing some of these issues. Popcorn is the most tolerant & loving boy even after all these evals from vet staff💙 He is the perfect patient😥

▪Animal ID #: 56572303
▪Breed: DSH
▪Age: 4 years old
▪Sex: Neutered male
▪Weight: 9.6lbs
▪FIV/FELV/HW status: FIV+
✅Behavior: 08/20 - Cat was friendly on kennel approach. Allowed to be picked up and handled. Allowed for the exam and did well for the blood draw. Did great for the restraint.
✅Medical: 08/15 - Person that brought P in reported that cat was limping on rear leg. P does not have any obvious wounds. Did not show any sensitivity on table. Starting on Meloxicam for pain and inflammation.
08/20 - Last dose of meloxicam was yesterday. This morning cat was holding up right front paw. Will stand with paw down, but will limp when walking, and then hold it up at times. Kennel staff reported some droplets of blood on his blankets when cleaning. Unable to visualize any wounds, but had a small amount of dried blood on lateral left leg stuck in his fur. No swelling on right leg, but has area of "loose" skin, no fluid palpated. Cat did not appear sensitive when palpating leg. Gave injection of Convenia in case of abscess starting. Restarting Meloxicam to reduce pain and inflammation. Will monitor and x-ray if no improvement.
08/22 - Feline Nueter, radiographs taken. No obvious injuries noted.
✅EXAM: Exam: BAR. Vitals - NSF. MM pink and moist. CRT

Meet Shark Bait🐾

Shark Bait was found abandoned tethered to a tree😔 Shark Bait is struggling here in the shelter. He has a HUGE personality but nobody to share it with😥 He loves to play and he is so eager to learn. (Check out his favorite shark toy)🦈 He is highly treat motivated and would benefit from a handler who has the experience and passion to help such dogs. Not all come to us with perfect manners or past training, but they shouldn't be given up on because of that! Old dogs can always learn new tricks🐾

▪Animal ID #: 56636546
▪Breed: Terrier/Cane Corso mix
▪Age: 2 years
▪Sex: Unaltered male *can be neutered prior to pull*
▪Weight: 65lbs
▪HW status: Negative
⭐NEW BEHAVIOR: 09/04 - Dog was excited on kennel approach but was sitting patienty at the front of kennel, no jumping today. Allowed for slip lead to be placed overhead. Once out of kennel the dogs barking in the ward seemed overstimulating to him. He did jump up onto me and wanted to bite at his leash. This seemed to be in a playful manner verus redirecting. Dog is highly treat motivated and knows sit/stay. He does take treats quickly and mouths at your hand if he thinks you have another one. Very playful and enjoys toys, does not appear to resource guard with them but similarly will mouth to take them. Believe he has the ability to learn "leave it" commands etc. with consistency. Dog is higher energy and desperately needs an outlet. Believe dog would benefit from basic obedience and the shelter enviroment would not be suitable for him long-term.
✅Behavior: 08/30 - Dog was friendly and jumping up on kennel approach. Allowed for the leash to be placed over head and walked out of the kennel. Initially walked well on a leash well, but then would stiffen and hard stare at handler. Dog became nippy and would constantly jump up and bite at leash. Started drooling excessively, suspect he gets overstimulated easily. Was able to place muzzle for distraction but dog constantly worked at getting it off. Was able to quickly examine and collect blood sample from front leg.
✅Medical: 08/30 - Exam: BAR. Vitals - NSF. BCS: 5/9. Normal hydration. No ocular or nasal discharge. Conjunctiva of right eye is swollen, unable to see foreign object or wound. Left eye normal. Mild brown waxy debris AU. No oral exam performed due to muzzle. H&L ascu - NSF. Coat and skin look great. No fleas or flea debris present. P is ambulatory. No lameness noted. Both testicles were palpated. Idexx Heartworm Test: Negative. Dog is on Carprofen for eye, unable to medicate topically due to temperament. Plan to market to rescue due to temperament.

Scooby hears that the lady's like bearded men😅 This boy has the cutest wire haired beard and mustache combo💚

Scooby is currently rescue only due to a bite history. He bit when the owner was applying topical flea/tick treatment. However, Scooby actually did very well for his exam with us and even tolerated blood draw. We suspect Scooby may have some hesitations to medical handling, and his new family should be aware of that. For grooming, vet visits etc. it may be ideal for him to be muzzle trained for the safety of everyone involved😊 His ideal home would be with older children as he likely wouldn't be tolerant to be hugged/rough-housed with. As with any dog tolerant or not - parents should always supervise and provide guidance🐾

Rhaenyra is the most perfect pocket pitty🤍 She comes to us as a stray, she was a bit underweight but frequent snacks from volunteers seemed to fix that😉 The finder was able to temporarily foster Rhanyra while we quickly made room for her. In the home she was crate trained, house broken, and even did well with the resident cats!🐈 Rhaenyra is a great size at just 36lbs. We estimate she is about 3 years of age. She has already been spayed and microchipped, all she is missing is a family to call her own🏡
