Wagged tail when I approached the kennel but did not get up . Accepted treats through kennel door. Inside the kennel initially she was timid but her tail was still wagging in a low and slow wag. Knows how to sit. Some lip licking during our interaction but towards end of our interaction her tail wag was a little faster and higher. She gave me a quick little kiss on the arm.

Peaches is our 2YO sweet lady. She's observed at the shelter as sociable at times with the more gentle dogs, she definitely knows her peeps! However sometimes Peaches will get bothered by some of the obnoxious, loud doggos and snaps and growl at them. She just doesn't have the time for silly games. We think she's just mature for her age and doesn't like immaturity. I mean--can you blame her? Who likes immaturity? Peaches needs someone who will appreciate her qualities and willing to teach her some new things along the way. Will that be you?

Our 1YO Miranda is a sweet soul. Staff at DAS say Miranda is good on her leash & treat motivated. She is observed as a friendly girl but sometimes easily scared by subtle movement & sounds. We're not sure why she's that way-perhaps it was something she experienced in her short 12 months. But whatever it was we think time, love, and patience can help Miranda can overcome. Meet Buddy! This handsome black and tan dog came to the shelter on 12/12 as his owner was arrested. He has been to playgroup and gets along with most dogs.

During his photo shoot, Buddy greeted me at the door with great enthusiasm, his tail wagging 100 miles an hour. He was so happy to be outside. He was interested in the dogs in playgroup in the next play area. I was able to get his attention with treats and he was very excited to get them. He allowed petting all over his body. He is a friendly dog.

Hello! My name is Snowflake. Although I can’t exactly say that my fur matches a snowflake, I can say that I’m unique, like how each snowflake has its own unique pattern! I’m known for my friendly personality and love to wag my tail when the DAS volunteers visit me in my kennel. I also have good manners and I love to get scratches from my human friends. I got the nickname “wiggly girl” and I also love to zoom around the yard while exploring the scenery. My favorite game to play is tug-of-war! Although I’m having a lot of fun here at DAS, they know that I’ve been working hard on trying to find a place that I can call my own, and I hope that home would be yours!

Flareon was found as a stray after being hit by a car. He has severe bilateral pelvic fractures, needing surgical repair on both sides. Due to medical needs we are looking for emergency rescue placement.

Left SI luxation with no support to limb due to separation; right body of ilium fractured with segments overriding; p***c bone fractures and pelvic symphysis separated. Prognosis extremely poor without internal fixation due to bilateral limb involvement. Would require screw fixation of left SI luxation and bone plate to repair right body of illium.

Kristof was found as a stray with a laceration on the top of his head. He is a sweet dog who will need ongoing medical treatment until his injury is healed.

Behavior
Whining at kennel front. Wanted to come out when I opened door. I was able to enter kennel with him. He stopped whining with petting and rested his head on my lap. After a minute he settled on the floor.

Medical:
Came in with laceration on right ear;
Exam findings: BAR, nervous
Approximately 5 inch linear laceration at base of right pinna. Wound extends into deeper tissues on rostral aspect but does not appear to communicate with the ear canal. Inverse 'V" laceration at distal tip of right pinna;
Approximately 1 inch linear superficial laceration on dorsal head.

Diagnosis: Traumatic lacerations of right ear

Plan: Sedated for wound clean and laceration repair. Maintained on Iso mask.
Cleaned wound and clipped wound.
Using a #15 scalpel blade, removed approximately 5mm margin of tissue around the perimeter of the laceration to create fresh
edges. Placed a 1/4" penrose drain into the wound. Secured at the proximal aspect of the wound using 2-0 monofilament absorbable suture in a horizontal mattress pattern. left long tail to ID drain tube sutures.
Closed SQ using same suture in a simple interrupted pattern. Secured the drain to the ventral aspect of the laceration using two simple interrupted sutures. Closed skin using same suture in a cruciate pattern.

Place e-collar until wound completely healed. Remove drain tube in 5 days.

Medical review for 1/10 to remove drain and recheck wound

While on rounds he was pouncing on the door of kennel and hard barking.
On 1/2/24
Went to the kennel to visit Snowman. He was a little overexcited, but didn't show any concerning behaviors. I opened the kennel door and he allowed petting. Same result on both sides of the kennel.
On 1/1/24
Approached kennel, when Snowman saw me he started to lung at the door, crouched down and turned to the side, snowman continue to lunged and try to bite thru the glass, when he had four on the floor offered treats but before continue . showed him leash but was not interested, spoke with care taker who was cleaning room, she stated she is not familiar with him, spoke with yesterday caregiver who let me know he had no issue with him, when we approached he lunged at him but quickly back down and allowed door to and leash him, took him to the yard and allowed me to take him back to kennel and remove leash, Snowman is barrier reactive with plexiglass door but not with bar door.

Everyone, meet Sissy Lou she comes to the shelter on 12/22 as a stray from the community. During her photo shoot Sissy Lou was barking loudly with her tail held up. She ate a treat and I met her on the other side of the kennel where it was quieter. She allowed me to leash her up and we went outside. She was not vocal at all while we were outside.

She was very interested in getting treats and jumped up on her back legs in order to get the treat. She did not jump on my body. Outside in the play area she ran around a little and was interested in the dog next-door but not make a ruckus. She allowed me to pet her all over and appeared to enjoy it. It seems like she is barky inside the kennel, but outside she is really a friendly dog.

PLAYGROUP: PG1 - SOCIAL DG - DAINTY & GENTLE

She will tolerate the dogs in the yard, not really showing interest in them at this time

Meet Zeus, a handsome Rottweiler that came into the shelter with wounds on the left side of his neck, and although the dedicated medical staff wanted to help, Zeus displayed some fear and discomfort. As a result, we couldn't fully clip and clean the wound.

Zeus is looking for a patient person who can provide the care and support he needs .

MEDICAL OBSERVATION
On 1/4/24
Pt was brought to medical with no issues, loose body and wagging tail. Mercedez petted him a few times but then suddenly he tried to bite her hand as well as started growling at her. Unable to pull blood due to pt showing teeth.

SHELTER OBSERVATION
On 1/5/24
Loose body and tail wagging. Really friendly with male handler (Billy). Brenda was also able to pet him. I attempted to pet and he
growled and and attempted to lunge but Billy was holding on the slip leash firmly and pulled him away
On 1/4/24
Just sat down and was looking at me, when I gave him treats he would catch them, other then that he was not very active.
