Effective today - Sunday, November 3 - we will be ceasing operations of this page. If you are not already, you can follow the D90 MVPs group and DAS staff will continue posting most of the urgent dogs there (excluding those that are Rescue Only and Emergency Rescue). If anyone would be interested in taking over this page's operations, please let us know.

Medical Department Findings: pink moist mm, CRT = 4 secs, depressed, abrasion on head, puncture wounds to neck/neck and area of L shoulder are swollen, underbite. Gave Convenia and carprofen injections. Gave gaba PO. Started on IV drip at 13 mls/hr.

Cherry was roaming as a stray with a pack of other dogs and is believed to have sustained a gunshot injury after the pack of dogs attacked a neighbor's goats and fatally injured a cow and chickens.

Cherry is available for rescue pickup now due to medical condition but would need to be returned if an owner came forward before November 6 at 11am

Medical 11/2: wounds on R shoulder and L lateral thorax, red tacky mm, wagging tail, eating well, distended abdomen, QAR.
Lateral rad of thorax- no bullet fragments seen.
Started IV fluids- 500 mls bolus then 95 mls/hr.

Playgroup Assessment
11/02/24 - Dog didnt mind the others and mostly stayed to himself. Was curious to wander and explore the yard. Was uneasy and skittish around handlers, needing to act slow when trying to leash and lead him out of yard

Shelter Observations
10/30/24 - was very reactive and overprotective of owners, barking, lounging, showing teeth, had slowly approached him , sat down to see if he would approach but just kept growling, had to catchpole which after away from the owners had calm down with the reactiveness but was still skittish and on guard, hair standing, tail tucked in, licking nose

Shelter Observations
10/31/24 - was very nervous at first, panting, not wanting to walk at first, i was patient with her and gentle with the leash, loose a bit to make her feel as she is off leash, seemed to work for her, had owner with me as she was still nervous, discovered she is food motivated, despite her nervousness, she would walk on leash and follow the treats, she would be shaking and having her tail tucked in, dogs barking at her made her more nervous but treats had her focus, super sweet, timid, go slow

Mona Lisa was found as a stray after being attacked by another dog. She timid in the shelter and mostly kept to herself in her kennel.

11/2/24: Fearful, pink moist mm, CRT < 2 secs, generalized erythema, mammary development, distended abdomen. Sedated to clip and clean. Puncture wounds to AS, L face, R face, L hind lateral thigh. Gave carprofen SQ, started on cefpodoxime.

10/29/24 tip of tail is injured, p***s looks to be split?

Medical Departments Findings: the dorsal prepuce distally/cranially has been approximately 50% transected transversely and has healed. no inflammation is associated with site. the free segment now very mildly pendulous, contracted, and ventral to pe**le g***s. the p***s still generally appears to be protected, moist, with no evidence of inflammation. correction appears not medically necessary/cosmetic. approx 1-1.25cm of crust over the distal aspect of tail and associated with slightly broader region of alopecia/slight thickening. placed dog ends tail protector and dressed site with petrolatum.

10/4/24 Reese had the zoomies coming out with the others. Was social and playful with the others and kept up with the more energetic group. When he got tired he took the time to lay down and rest and relaxed with the d&g group

Reese was easy to leash and walks well. He wanted to stop and say hi to every dog as we walked to the yard. Outside he did alot of sniffing and peed right away. After he pottied he had some zoomies than wanted treats and pets

9/24/24 Reese has an easy going vibe, he knows how to sit and takes grates gently. He followed me around the play yard and enjoyed getting pets. He comes over when called. Gentle calm friendly demeanor

The best part of my Daycation was when.......I got so much love and attention at Katy Trail Ice House!!

Any additional notes you would like to include about the dog? Reese was running around in the play yard when we picked him up so had gotten some energy out before our daycation. He was so easy going and curious everywhere we took him. He loved the snuggles and is comfortable just curling up on a lap for more attention.

Introducing Nevan, a sweet and gentle pup who is slowly gaining confidence in new environments. This handsome boy is just 10 months old and has a soft, medium build. Though initially a bit nervous, Nevan warms up nicely and enjoys the company of other mellow dogs. He is a pleasure to walk on leash and seems to appreciate quiet attention from patient humans.

Nevan was good on the leash and pottied. after smelling in the play yard. she wanted to romp and play with the dog in the next play yard, and then she spent most of the time wanting to be petted, crawling up in my lap, or laying on the ground, wanting belly rubs.

Meet London, a charming 3-year-old lady with a zest for life! This medium-sized sweetheart has a playful spirit that shines through in her interactions with other dogs. From our volunteer observations, London seems to enjoy a good game of chase, often engaging in push and pull play with her canine companions. She's been known to approach others for friendly sniffs and loves to mingle, showing her social butterfly nature. London appears to have a great balance of energy, enjoying both running around and taking leisurely walks to socialize with her furry friends.

10/17/24 -Easy to leash but pulled and was reactive to dogs on our way out to the yard. Mostly wandered the yard but allowed us to pet him when he got close.
