TW:

Alabama Dog Training Facility charged with Animal Cruelty for starving client puppy to death.

I wanted to take some time to speak on some important differences between training sessions including owners (relationship based training) versus board and trains.

This is not meant to shame people for using board and trains by any means. There is a time and place. But not all facilities are created equal, and with the inability to be involved in the training process can open opportunity for outcomes less than desired…

“My dog needs to listen to me because I’m the human and they’re the dog”

Really? Okay…

Then your relationship needs to quantify as a “need” to not just you, but also your dog.

Even in our own personal relationships, the ones we would define as “needed” are mutually beneficial relationships. That person and that relationship specifically provides to you things you could not otherwise get.

And if you’re REALLY lucky, you are able to provide the same “need” to that person. And that take a TON of work.

You have to allocate time to that relationship, you need to sometimes give when you want to take, you make sure there’s comfort, communication, and connection with that person.

So ask yourself;
1) So why would your dog be any different? Does your dog only “need” you right now because they have a home and a food dish?

2) Or, does your dog need you because you’ve given them the fulfillment, stimulation, lifestyle that they want/should have?

The relationship, obedience, and life of a dog to the owners who answer “yes” to question 1 versus question 2 look VERY different from one another…

☀️ Good morning!

Until further notice, we will not be accepting any new or returning clients for private training or board with train.

This season of life has us spread too thin at the moment!

We will still be doing Rescue work with our favorite groups who need some extra help. Along with posting content!

When our intake re-opens we will be sure to announce!

Thank you so much for all the continued love & support!

🚨 PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY

Paulding County Code of Ordinances specifically states unless you are on your own property you must have your dog on a leash.

90% of Paulding County Parks even have signs that dogs MUST be leashed.

There is NO reason to have your dog off leash in our public parks. And there is NO justification, behind such an inconsiderate decision.

I confront these incidents, as I take the welfare of not just my dogs, but OUR community’s dogs VERY seriously. It only takes 1 accident to change a dog and/or owners life forever because of someone else’s negligence.

I’m really taking a hard look at White Oak Park, and wondering what we need to do to clean up our actions..

08/26/2024

When someone runs over their foot while mowing the lawn in sandals, we know its user error and not the lawn mower’s fault. It’s not even a serious discussion.

When someone can’t control their dog and it’s on a Flexi-Lead we blame the Flexi-Lead.

Flexi-Leads are not inherently bad. Flexi-Leads are great tools if you know how to use them. They fail because of the person holding them either is not understanding their functionality or not adequately training their dog to be on one.

This is a hill I will die on 😂

🐕 All dog’s should be properly crate trained.

🩹 Meaning, they can remain in a homeostatic state for most of the time they are in the crate without crying, barking, eliminating waste, destructive, or self mutilation behaviors.

📈In 90% of cases, there is nothing a new or basic dog owner CAN’T do to get their dog to that state.

👎 Prolonging, or avoiding your own temporary discomfort because you don’t like the crying or barking is only hurting your pup in the long run. Your dog needs the space and boundary where they are safe and feel confident being separated from others.
