McCullough Dressage and Kat Andalusians had a great first show of the season. Brilliante made his 3rd level debut and received some promising scores and comments from the judges. Hortelano went out at 4th level and gained some crucial confidence in the ring.(There's alot of pressure when you're that pretty, you know 💅) Ginny and Rumor sailed through training level with fabulous scores and also snagged AA highpoint on Saturday. Last but not least Karla and our precious Otto had their first field trip together as a pair. He was perfect and very entertaining as usual 😂. A big thank you to Catalino, the newest addition to the Kat Andalusian's team of trainers! Looking forward to the next one 🤩💃

A CONVERSATION ABOUT PERCEIVED VALUE:

A customer asked a contractor friend of mine how much it would cost to do this project.

My friend gave him a proposal: $4500

The customer responded: That’s seems really high.

My friend asked: What do you think is a reasonable price for this job?

The customer answered: $2500 maximum

My friend responded: Ok, then I invite you to do it yourself.

The customer answered: I don't know how to.

My friend responded: Alright, then how about for $2500 I'll teach you how to. So besides saving you $2000, you'll learn valuable skills that will benefit you in the future.

The customer answered: Sounds good! Let’s do it!

My friend responded: Great! To get started, you are going to need some tools. You will need a chop saw, table saw, cordless drill, bit set, router, skill saw, jig saw, tool belt, hammer, etc..

The customer answered: But I don't have any of those tools and I can't justify buying all of these for one job.

My friend responded: Ok. Well then for an additional $300 I can rent my tools to you to use for this project.

The customer answered: Okay. That’s fair.

My friend responded: Great! We will start the project on Monday.

The customer answered: I work Monday through Friday. I’m only available on the weekends.

My friend responded: If you want to learn from me then you will need to work when I work. This project will take 3 days so you will need to take 3 days off work.

The customer answered: That means I’m going to have to sacrifice my pay for 3 days or use my vacation time!

My friend responded: That’s true. Remember, when you do a job yourself you need to account for unproductive factors.

The customer answered: What do you mean by that?

My friend responded: Doing a job completely from start to finish includes time spent to plan the project, pick up materials, travel time, gas, set up time, clean up, and waste disposal amongst other things. That’s all in addition to the actual project itself. And speaking of materials, that’s where we will start on Monday so I need you to meet me at the lumberyard at 6:00am.

The customer answered: At 6am?!! My work day doesn’t usually start until 8am!

My friend responded: Well then you’re in luck! My plan is to start on the deck build by 8am. But to do so we have to start at 6am to get materials picked up, loaded and delivered to your job site.

The customer answered: You know, I’m realizing that a lot more goes in to a job than what a customer sees in the finished project. Your proposal of $4500 is very reasonable. I would like you to handle the project.

CONCLUSION:

When you pay for a job, especially a custom job, (whether it’s a physical project or digital project) you pay not only for the material and the work to be completed. You also pay for:

✔️ Knowledge
✔️ Experience
✔️ Custom Skills
✔️ Tools
✔️ Time to plan
✔️ Time to prepare
✔️ Professionalism
✔️ Work Ethic
✔️ Excellence
✔️ Discipline
✔️ Commitment
✔️ Integrity
✔️ Taxes
✔️ Licenses
✔️ Sacrifices
✔️ Liabilities
✔️ Insurance
✔️ Permits

If you request a proposal for custom work to be done, please don’t disrespect a service provider by trying to get them to lower their prices.

If their proposal exceeds your budget, there’s nothing wrong with getting other proposals.

Just remember.. you get what you pay for.

👉🏼 SERVICE PROVIDERS: Know your worth and be confident in it.

👉🏼 CONSUMERS: Recognize their worth and be respectful of it.

I had some amazing rides this past weekend with Claudio. I was able to ride Sarah Decker's friesian gelding, Wesley and Kat Dozzo's two PRE stallions Hortelano and Brilliante. Cindy Bishop's friesian Gelding, Simon, also had his first "dance" lesson. We were both blown away by how he accepted the challenge and the talent he showed. I'm excited to keep the ball rolling with the 4 of them, their futures are bright🤩! Thank you Claudio for all your guidance, patience and enthusiasm. And of course thank you to everyone at Whispering Farms who who brought this opportunity to me.

Since Nancy and Kille had to miss this clinic this weekend, I thought I would take a moment to put Kille in the spotlight. Love a guy that will coordinate rose gold accents with me. 🦄💖

SOLD!!!

You are not even a person if you look at Sarape and don’t smile. Because he has that effect on people. Maybe it’s his ears...generally at a sort of relaxed half-mast...until they swivel forward as he greets you with that little nicker of, “why hello, there, my human friend...come closer and squeeze my neck, because that’s all I need for happiness.”. Maybe Sarape’s charm comes from his abundance of hair...the forelock that falls jauntily across his eyes, the mane that is...well....copious...or his bushy, fluffy tail. Or maybe it’s his truly adorable way of traveling across the ground, with three sturdy, leg at each corner, workmanlike gaits that manage to show expression without jostling the back fillings out of his rider. But frankly, I think Sarape’s magnetism comes from the fact that he radiates inner peace and goodwill. He is like riding one of those thunder shirts or weighted blankets, or attending a hypnotic yoga session...he just sort of puts you in a place where you feel safe, happy and comfortable as you glide around the arena. Sarape has the scores at first level to prove that he can take his good humor on the road...he holds the judges in his power as well. Despite the fact that he is a stallion, Sarape is unfazed by mares, new situations, traffic, cold weather, shows, dogs, telephone conversations, flapping jackets, air raid sirens, emotional meltdowns, or Amazon Prime delivery trucks (the video shows his reaction to both the truck and his ability to walk past paddocks full of inquisitive mares). Sarape H. 15.3 hand 7 year old Andalusian Stallion. Started half steps, piaffe, spanish walk...ready to show second level. Has scores at first level. Requires no maintenance, no health issues, no soundness issues. Come and see him and fall in love with him. https://youtu.be/oWiOzFwxKdk. located in Prosper, Texas, he is right in the mid five figures.

McCullough Dressage and the whole Whispering Farms team had an awesome show! Darlene Preston and Cash won 3 out of 4 classes and took home Amateur High Point Champion on Saturday. Her and Cash qualified for 2021 regionals at their first outing of the year! She also kicked butt at 2nd level too earning some very solid scores in the mid 60's!

Allison Sohmer and Bugatti went out at new levels and WOW what a transformation over the weekend! They came out with some very solid scores at 1-3, 66% and 65% and broke ground at 2nd level. I love putting our heads together with your "special" dude 😂.
I am very proud to be both of you ladies coach😁

Reminiscing my last trip down center line today. Yes, I know there are more important things going on but this memory is so fun to look back at. Seeing the progress from then to now is also exciting. This was Wesley's last 3rd level test at 2019 regionals and one I'll always remember. I got to release the dragon on this one and he used all his powers for good instead of evil, doesn't always work out that way.
