We're thrilled to share that the construction phase at our facility has come to an end! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering patience and support during this transformative journey. Your understanding has been invaluable to us!

If you have an appointment with us tomorrow morning please be warned to avoid that small area. We are excited to announce that founding partner, Dr. Jennifer Lavender, will now be available throughout the Metro Paws Animal Hospital networks.

Beginning in January 2024, she can be found regularly on Mondays at the White Rock location and other scattered days at the other Metro Paws Animal Hospital locations. The best way to schedule an appointment with her is by calling our White Rock location at 214-324-1500 to check her availability. Orthopedic surgical procedures and follow-ups will now be performed at the White Rock location.

🐾 MPAH-SK: Case of the Month 🐾

Meet Ernest, the brave 6-month-old kitten who recently paid a visit to Metro Paws Skillman! His concerned owner noticed acute vomiting and a sudden loss of appetite – not typical behavior for our playful friend.

Dr. Gates quickly got to work. After a thorough examination, she recommended radiographs to delve deeper into Ernest's symptoms. 🩺 The diagnosis? A potential foreign body, a common hazard when our furry friends like to consume non-food items like toys and socks.

The danger of foreign bodies is that they can lead to intestinal blockages. This can make pets feel sick, disrupt their eating habits, and hinder nutrient absorption. Without intervention, they can even be life-threatening.

Dr. Gates, with her expert skills and keen detective work, performed a successful exploratory surger. She discovered a Nerf bullet just past the stomach! Thanks to her dedication, Ernest is now free to embrace his full, energetic kitten life once again.

There are some reports of a canine respiratory infection spreading in some parts of the country in dogs. We are aware and we are actively monitoring. We have not yet seen a case in our patients at our hospital.
At this time, our recommendation is to please keep your dog up to date on the Bordetella vaccination (kennel cough) and the influenza vaccination if they are social, attending boarding or grooming. 🐾
