Peepers had a procedure yesterday at Veterinary Eye Institute that opened up his right eye, and so far so GOOD! Good enough that he was able to hop up to the upper level of the catio today and party with his big, blue-eyed brethren! Eeeeee!!!!!

If it stays open and does reform the symblepharon, we’ll do the same with the left eye in January.

Leading up to Christmas we'd like to highlight some of the cats least likely to be adopted, in hopes that they'll find a home before the holidays!

This is Dewey. He is estimated to be about 7 or 8 years old, and is FIV+. Currently PetSmart doesn't allow FIV+ cats to stay in the adoption center, which we believe to be his main hurdle in adoption, along with workable pet aggression.

Dewey likes: head rubs, harder head rubs, lying on your chest, lying in the sun, and lying on top of the couch above your head.

Dewey dislikes: other cats, too much petting, you getting up when he's comfortable on you, and covered litter boxes. He is the stereotype of both orange cats, and cats in general. For example, while his original foster siblings used their brain cells and figured out how to push the button on the automatic feeder, he couldn't so he just knocked it over. And he wants to be touched, until he suddenly doesn't and he lets you know with teeth or nails. He was originally brought in after a foster was able to feed and trap him in their neighborhood when they saw him being bullied by other street cats. They heard from neighbors that he was outside because he had been dumped outside following a divorce. We would love him to find a home as he's currently confined to a small room unless the other cats in his foster home are locked away.

He REALLY really hates other cats. He would do best with someone who understands overstimulation aggression in cats and can work around it. The foster says only intermittent pets and also wiggling until he gets up on his own works well. Homes with young kids are not ideal because of the bite risk since young kids aren't the best at telling when cats are getting overstimulated. And of course, he needs to be an only cat. He has done well with smallish dogs though.

Since he cannot stay at the center, he is available to meet by appointment only. If you or someone you know are interested in him please reach out to [email protected].

Our little guy is fully over his FVR outbreak — no more sneezes or evidence of new eye ulcerations. We are now just dealing with the inner lids having healed over his actual eye balls (a situation called symblepharon). As you can see, the procedure to remove the adhered symblepharon was productive on the left eye and he can for sure see! Will need more eye work when he goes under for neuter.

Calmest kitty to ever get her tummy shaved… or it’s just Dr. Coffman’s excellent tableside manner.

After feeding SEVEN little Star Wars kits, Princess Leia’s milkshake machine is out of service, but after a week of antibiotics, she’ll be ready for a home of her own. Wouldn’t you like to adopt this patient lady??

This poor little critter came into Awwdoptable Rescue after I saw a Facebook post begging for help while I was out of town. Ana Cristina Zapata connected with the finder, drove to my house to get supplies, and took naturally to my FaceTime instructions on how to triage, **including my talking her through her first time administering subcutaneous fluids!!!**

Believe it or not, this kitty’s condition is about 50% improvement over yesterday’s 🙀. Kitty is now able to stand, complain, eat, and walk away from the sleeping nest to potty. Guarded prognosis, but cautiously optimistic. Will update in the morning…

Additional shout outs to Blair Katz for his aparent kitten petting prowess, and Alex Hernandez for accepting this kitten into their home even though he wasn’t feeling his best and had a baby of his own to care for. 😻

NOTE: Friends, while are swamped with intake of 19 cats from the sudden death of an Awwdoptable family member, and funds depleted from 6 panleuk kitties in a row, we couldn’t turn away from this baby.

We need volunteers! Awwdoptable needs volunteers willing to come help us cuddle & socialize our cats, as well as, clean kennels. Do you have time that you could dedicate every week, 2 weeks or even once a month? We would appreciate it & you!

Can't volunteer? That's ok. We also need flannel material to make kennel pads and could use some transport help.

*Must be 18 years of age or have a parent with you at all times. Depending on requirements, we can be used for school credits.

We are in the West Plano PetSmart at 6204 W Park Blvd at the Tollroad.

Update: 3 days later. Still congested, but eyes no longer goopy (that’s just Teramycin salve that looks wet). She actually ate a little on her own! Pooped out a pile of worms but we finished our dewormer and coccidia prevention protocol this morning. She now purrs when she sees me and gives head boops.

Since she was pulled from the 7-Eleven colony, she needs a 7-Eleven name… but she’s tough, so I feel like she needs a street name.

Twinkle is as sweet as she is beautiful! Playful with toys and other cats, gentle with babies, and learning dogs. Rescued from the PVAS shelter in South TX, with ringworm and a mouth injury. After a few weeks of care, she is purrfect!

We saved big girl Candy yesterday from DAS. She’d been described as having a little bit of a ‘tude, but I quickly learned her hiss is how she says hello, while purring and making biscuits and bumping your leg with her head.
She is VERY talkative and opinionated, and can you even handle her little crooked ear and those EYES! 👀

I feel like she needs to go live with someone’s sassy Auntie or Meemaw, and just sit on the porch to complain about squirrels together. Know anyone for Candy??
