Most of you know I've been a pet sitter for seven years and in that time I've learned a great deal about pet behavior. I know a handful of reasons a pet may quit eating. I know a dozen ways to help reduce anxiety. I'm good with big dogs, little dogs, shy pets, and feisty pets. I'm especially good with anxious dogs and elderly dogs. But I had a new experience recently. One completely out of my wheel house. GOATS. MEET LORETTA AND DOLLY You've heard the tales that goats will eat anything? NOT TRUE! At least for these two. Their special treat is animal cookies and neither of these girls will eat a broken cookie--- no, seriously. And if one is dropped they won't eat it off the ground. No five second rule in the goat world. One day I noticed Dolly's belly looked a little bloated compared to Loretta's. I mentioned it to mom and she told me to put baking soda out for her. I had no idea. In no time at all Dolly was licking at the baking soda. Problem soon resolved. I had fun tending the goats. I loved hearing them call out when they heard me coming. I like to think it was a lovely morning greeting, though sassy Loretta was probably telling me to get a move on with her breakfast. Check out the pretty girls below.
