If you move your hands on the reins you will pull on their mouth
If you rock your weight side to side you’ll pull their bodies off balance
If you are leaning forward too much you’ll crush their shoulders and make it hard for them to travel comfortably

The best way to benefit your horse and their soundness is to learn to be a quiet, balanced rider! This is not achieved in one month of lessons but years and years of practice, lessons, guidance and coaching and willingly allow someone to mold you into the rider your horse needs.

If you aren’t moving with them- you’re moving against them.

Finding Dori

Are you looking for an unflappable horse to add to your family or lesson/therapy program? I’ve got the best candidate right here! Dori is a coming 5 year old Percheron cross mare that is 15.3 hands tall and a nice thick build. Dori is so quiet and simple to ride- smooth as silk too!! Dori has a great walk, trot and canter and always is happy to stop and come back on a loose rein and walk, she is a more whoa then go kinda gal but don’t confuse that with her being lazy because she’s happy to work whenever asked. Dori has been ridden all over the trails and fields from Missouri to Pennsylvania and is excellent to whatever terrain and obstacles come her way, water, rocks, bridges, traffic etc she’s great and takes it all in stride! Dori tolerates flapping tarps, flags, pool noodles, giant bouncy balls, pulling a sled and anything else you can think of- oh and she even drives too! Dori has been ridden by children as young as 5 and took great care of them she could easily be a family horse or a horse for a kid to grow up on, would also make a great pleasure horse for the older equestrian to relax and enjoy arena work or trails on. She rides English or western and doesn’t mind being hopped on ba****ck in a halter either. Dori trailer loads and hauls great and is the same horse on and off property. She requires no prep to ride even with time off just saddle up and go enjoy your ride. Dori will live in a stall or in a field whichever set up is best for your schedule. All prospective buyers are welcome to have a PPE done at their expense. We can help arrange shipping if needed.

Lovey Dovey

Dove is a coming 11 year old grade quarter horse mare that is a stout 15.1 hands tall and just has the prettiest little head and gentle eyes! We adore Dove because this girl is the same every single day- honest, well broke and reliable. Dove will ride western or English and has extensive trail miles from Pennsylvania to Kentucky and everywhere in between. Dove is very well broke, she will neck rein or direct rein and will even go around bridleless. She leg yields, side passes and turns on the haunches both ways, she has an awesome stop and will lope off on either lead with just a “kiss” she always comes back on a lose rein calmly and is a blast to ride wether in the arena or on the trail. She is safe and quiet over bridges, tarps, ground poles and will tolerating kicking our big volley ball around and out on trail is good about crossing water, traffic and other natural obstacles one expects to encounter outside. She will ride alone or in a group and is good to cross roads and along side traffic. Dove is good on cross ties for grooming and saddling and easy to live with in a stall or turned out. She also loads and hauls great and off loads at new places quietly and rides off with no prep. She would make an excellent addition to a lesson program, therapy program or just a great all around horse for a kid or adult to gain confidence on while trail riding or showing. Dove does not grow a lot of heel and her previous owner of many years said she has always done well in a wedge pad, she travels sound and is happy in work like this however PPEs are always welcomed at the prospective buyers expense. Her price does reflect the minor maintenance of farrier care needed.

Draft cross lovers raise your hand!🙋🏼‍♀️

This 6 year old Percheron cross mare is thicker than a snicker and 15.3hh tall and just the cutest head you could ask for! She is sweet and easy to live with and will jump anything- point and shoot! Good brain to make up into a lesson horse and super comfortable, she has an easy trot and very comfortable canter on both leads. She let us roll a ball around on her, around the world from the saddles and slide off her rump without a blink. Has a nice steady pace but is easy to stop throw out on the buckle and just walk around. She’s been extensively trail ridden and would make the coolest fox hunter, field hunter, lower level eventer, local hunter and the list goes on. Barefoot and sound with no vices, turns out in a mixed herd and trailer loads easily. Video of her English and western available for serious inquiries.

Who needs a thick bodied 15.3hh draft x? Tw***ie is a doll with the prettiest head and doe eyes. She rides around simple and enjoys taking a jump or going down the trail, she’s a quiet mare and is barefoot and sound. Could see this mare loving a job as a western trail, obstacle horse or English as a fox hunter, hunter pace or low level event type horse! She loads and hauls nice and at just 6 years old you can truly develope her into whatever you think she’s best suited for- her foundation is set make her what you want 😉😘

Who needs a lesson hony?

Meet Winston he stands 14.2 and 1/2hh and has a thick build! Would be ideal for kids, teens and adults! Anyone can ride this guy, your kids, your grandma and everyone in between- he IS comfortable. Winston takes his leads and will jump small cross rails and verticals. He rides western too and will neck rein, leg yield, side pass and has a very nice stop. You can bounce a ball around him, over him and roll it under him his belly, carry a flag on him, drag a sled and whatever else you can think of.
At 12 years old he’s the perfect age to slide into any program or family and teach you the ropes.
Sound with no vices or known limitations
Easy to load and haul off loads quiet and rides the same as he does at home anywhere you take him.
Lives in or out and is good in a group

“Lyra” 8 year old Sport Horse standing 17hh tall and in great substance

She can be easily finished by a kid and would make a great all around prospect for 4H and local events or a great trail horse for your weekend warrior riders.

The most handsome “Elvis” you’ll ever meet!

This stunning 4 year old draft cross is just the right size at 15.2 and 1/2 with great substance and feet. He’s bump and blemish free with the most beautiful coal black and shiny coat- and check out his great tail and mane!!! Elvis is gentle, quiet and very comfortable. He rides walk trot and canter, in the arena or on trails. He takes his leads and has a great “whoa” and backs up. He would make a great AA type and is a nice prospect for the local hunters or even dressage diva! He rides western too, I think he would make a great weekend warrior trail horse, or be a nice prospect for the all around events. He is easy to work on while on the ground as well as under saddle.
Elvis is a Percheron x paint QH cross and was raised by one owner up until now, he’s had an easy start and is the perfect age to be finished into whatever discipline you feel fit. His foundation will allow for him to go in many directions. He ties, bathes and loads/hauls great. Off loads at new places calmly and doesn’t need prep to go ride just saddle up and get to work. I don’t make posts like this often but I see so many people getting into horses and then giving up in a short time.

This is not a sport for the weak. In fact it will bring out every weakness in you. It will also bring out every ounce of strength in you too.

If you start this journey with the love of the animal in your heart and pure obsession for everything horse related then you are one step ahead already. If you started it thinking there’s only perfect rides- quit now, you’ll never get it. Every day with these creatures is a blessing. We have to realize there’s good days and there’s bad days and there’s everyday in between.

Remember why you started because there was a horse crazy little girl inside your heart that never gave up on her dream to have one of these amazing creatures. You owe it to her to put in the work- good or bad, easy or hard.

I leave you with this you can either quit or keep going- they both hurt, read that again.

But only one of those choices will heal you.

I have a VERY good minded young filly here that could easily be finished out by a youth that had trainers guidance or adult amateur etc, rides off just the same if she’s worked everyday or if she sits for a month. Easy walk, trot and canter- takes her leads, really nice stop on her hind end. She’s soft in contact, moves off leg, started on leg yields and is just as cute and FRIENDLY as can be! She’s a puppy for attention and love. She’s been ridden out on trails and through the fields a ton but will go around the arena too!

As the seasons change, outdoor riding becomes increasingly challenging due to slippery or frozen grounds and unfavorable temperatures. Fortunately, SSR will be reopening its indoor facilities for hourly rental. Our well-insulated indoor arena maintains a comfortable temperature, 15° warmer than outside, with reliable footing and superior LED lighting that mitigates the effects of daylight saving time. The indoor arena will be open on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays; please contact us to schedule a ride time at $20 per person.

Double registered miniature horse c**t, two blue eyes and flaxen mane/tail 👀

Parents are 33” and 32.5” tall
This c**t is SWEET and gentle, my lesson kids lay with him, drag him around everywhere through the arenas and pastures and have had him over a ground pole for fun. He will do anything and go anywhere you ask! He has has his feet done and was great for farrier and loads and hauls nicely too! If you’re looking for a quiet family type mini to add to your family he’s your guy! Will be an excellent in hand and driving prospect as well. He is flashy and has a great mouth and good legs too.
