We are a small North Carolina Incorporated 501(c)3 non-profit animal rescue organization located in Dallas, NC. We achieved our 501(c)3 non profit corporation status under the laws of the state of North Carolina on 4/1/13 and our Federal non profit status on 4/1/15. We are exempt from the provisions of the Charitable Solicitation Act NC General Statute 131F-1 et seq. Our current rescue coverage a

rea is throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and parts of Virginia. As soon as possible after coming into our care, our rescued animals receive a medical evaluation, required vaccinations (including but not limited to Distemper, Parvo, Rabies, and Bordetella), they also receive any medical attention the Veterinarian deems necessary to restore them to optimal health, and are spayed or neutered. We will insure that they are in good health or are on their way to a full recovery before adoption. All of our rescued animals are ideally placed in approved FOSTER HOMES and are not kenneled at a facility. However, if it means saving their life, I will board them in a wonderful boarding facility ONLY until a foster home can be found. This way, the animals receive one on one care, as well as the love and attention that only comes from being in a family environment. We learn their likes, dislikes, and temperament and can address any illnesses or behavior problems quickly. They live indoors with our own pets, as they are our very own! We strive to provide education to the public regarding the care and welfare of animals, vaccinating against preventable diseases, and the importance of spay/neuter.

***We do not have a physical location for you to see our pets. All of our rescued animals are placed into our network of foster homes. Rescues need YOU to save a life! There is no more rewarding feeling in the world than opening up your heart and home to an animal in need. Their lives depend on YOU! We truly appreciate all of your love and support for our rescue. We all share the same love of animals and with your help, we can expand and eventually save even more animals. When new rescues ask me what the most important aspect they should know about rescuing an animal is, I always have the same response. Never take in more animals than you can personally take care of. Quality of Life for the ones you rescue MUST always be your top priority. That means being able to give the animal the best medical care possible and being prepared to take on the financial burden. If it means you can only save one animal, then only save one. Quality of life is our number one priority and is also the reason why we have to watch how many animals we take in. We get notes all day long from people upset because we can't take their dog. I wish we could take them all but the fact is, we will NEVER take an animal in if it takes away from the necessary needs of another animal. DONATE AND SUPPORT:

*SAFE WITH A FOSTER* 💕

*STILL IN NEED* we need a solid foster. The rescue pays for all vetting.

PLEASE HELP HER!!

KITA (A076730)

Welcome Kita. She’s an 11 year old Labrador Retriever mix. She was brought in as a stray and no one has come looking for her. Kita is heartworm negative. Kita was rescued years ago from our shelter by a wonderful rescue. Sadly the rescue owner has since passed away and despite efforts, no one is able to make contact with the adopter.
Kita stands ready at the front of her kennel. She doesn’t want to miss anyone who might stop to say hello and take her outside. Kita is easy to leash up and walks gently and calmly.
Kita is a sweet girl who is curious and loves her treats. She also has plenty of “pep” in her step. She’s ready for a yard where she can run with her ball. She just needs a family to play fetch with her and to give her the love she deserves.
Kita is very confused to be back at the shelter. It is the last place she wants to be after spending years in a home with her family. Will you choose this senior lady to be part of your family? She has plenty of life and love to give. She’s at Cumberland County Animal Services, but ready for her freedom ride. Come visit her - no appointment needed. Kita wants a family to share her golden years with. 910 321-6852.

*UPDATE #2*

The shelter has had a Parvo outbreak. She won’t make it without a solid foster to help her. 😭

*UPDATE*

PLEASE PLEASE HELP HER! WE NEED A SOLID FOSTER ASAP!

Per the shelter staff “Kita is a GREAT dog and very low maintenance” 😭

This shelter is overcrowded and they only have 7 isolation kennels. She is not currently sick, but she is definitely not safe WHEN hard choices have to be made. Her time is ticking quickly.

*WE HAVE A RESCUE WILLING TO PULL**.

BUT…they don’t have a foster. We need a really solid foster. One that will be able to continue to be her foster the long haul if that’s what’s needed.

PLEASE SHARE. She’s in a high intake…over crowded shelter. Her time will be limited.

HELP!!! Jill adopted her out in 2015 and she is back in the shelter. We haven’t had any luck finding her adopter.

According to the shelter, she is really sweet. She’s shaking in her kennel bc the noise in the shelter scares her.

We need help getting her out either with a rescue or a solid adopter. Jill did so much for so many. It’s heartbreaking to know Kita has been failed somewhere along the line and now we struggle to help her.

We could use everyone’s help. This furbaby Kita was adopted out by this rescue on February 22, 2017.

Kita is currently at Cumberland County Animal Control in Fayetteville, NC after she was found under an abandoned house.

The phone number on the chip is no longer in service. She was adopted out to someone named Betty. Can we please get this post shared far and wide in hopes of finding Betty? Thank you so much for being their voice.

Posting this because our former VP Kathy and her family need our support!! Kathy worked alongside Jill and I while we pulled, fostered and advocated for many many fur babies across NC. PLEASE SHARE FAR AND WIDE as they have lost everything to a fire right after Christmas and have been left with nothing. All 6 dogs are safe but they are in need of whatever we can give them to start over again! Let’s give back to this angel of a human being who has poured her heart and soul into rescue.

**SOS**

Please help! Finn needs a new foster…without cats…ASAP.

Finn is one of Jill’s Chi mixes and is stressed out in the home bc of cats that live there.

This in turn is stressing out the rest of the furbabies there…including Ollie, his brother.

We had no way of knowing whether or not any of these babies would adapt to cats…well…now we know.

Finn is 14 pounds. He just really wants to be a lap dog. He is very food/treat motivated and would love to spend the day resting his bones on a soft bed.

He is house trained and crate trained. He sleeps in the crate at night and goes in a crate (with treats) if no one is home.

He will need a committed possibly long term foster. Please please share this. If you can help with fostering him, please apply to It Takes A Village Rescue

They all need vetting. No amount is too small. 🙏🏻

Thank you to every single person who helped with this journey from sharing, networking, donating and transporters. A very special thank you to the fosters and rescues who helped six seniors get out of the shelter and on to their happily ever after.

Jill is proud and smiling but most of all…resting peacefully. 💕🐾💕

They are all safe in foster care, but the bills are just beginning. Any help is appreciated. ❤️

💛💛BIG THANKS to It Takes A Village Rescue for moving mountains to spring ALL SIX of Jill’s personal dogs from a kill shelter!!! They are safe but are still in need of ongoing medical care. This is the 4th of Jill’s babies this rescue has taken in. They are also working on the last 2 in the shelter.

These four SENIORS they have committed to are currently safe in foster care. This is no small feat and vetting four seniors taken in to rescue at the same time will be expensive.

PLEASE PLEASE help however you can.

Dog 4 safe!! This is 14 year old Mel Jo. She was one of Jills 6 dogs in the shelter. We need funds for the ones safe and we need a foster for the 2 remaining chis. Ideal is together but we can seperate them. If we seperate we need just 1 foster.
We have had to cover transport costs for the first 3. Mel Jo will go to Vermont today.
Scout will need to get to Massachusetts. Hope will likely be with us a long time as it’s hard to find an aodpter for a senior dog.

HELP!!! These guys are the only ones left at the shelter.

Finn and Ollie will be pulled together; however, they can be fostered separately.

THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES LEFT

These are the last of Jill Wheaton Lindsey’s furbabies that will be left in the shelter…once we find transport for Meli Jo.

FOSTERS NEEDED ASAP

Jill Wheaton Lindsey was the epitome of what rescue stand for. She saved many many furbabies over the years before she passed away in 2020.

Her personal furbabies…six of them…ALL SENIORS…are currently in a shelter.

We are working hard with some stellar rescues that are willing to help furbabies out of the shelter and to new loving forever homes.

Please let us know if you can help foster. We cannot get them safe without fosters for them. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

We need all the help we can get.

Here’s what we know: All of them are fixed and HW-. Hope is a medical adoption and Ollie and Finn are bonded brothers.

**911**

We need some help. Due to some major changes in life, six of Jill’s personal furbabies are in a shelter.

Some are rescue only while some are adoptable. All of them are seniors.

Can anyone help us get those babies out of the shelter?

To all of our past supporters, the page was recently hacked by an outside source. This has now been corrected and hopefully won't be an issue again. All spam posts have been removed. This page is here to continue honoring our dear friend Jill and all the animals she saved. God bless.
