Yes, we are placing greyhounds into fantastic homes in Southern California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and we network with several groups across the country. We’ve welcomed eighteen greyhounds so far this year and we’re getting ready for sixteen more later this month.

UPDATE: This boy will soon be in a home thanks to a few local greyhound groups. Thanks to you all for sharing, caring and especially the special folks who have offered to be a back-up!

We’re looking for a foster to home a greyhound who ended up in a shelter in Oklahoma. He is not a racer and we suspect he may have been a coyote dog, but we just don’t know. What we DO know is this boy is relatively young (estimated 2 or 3 yrs old).

We have transport solutions to get him to you, wherever you are. Vet care and anything else he needs will be taken care of as well. Please message or email [email protected].

We are off to a fantastic start to the new year with a list of adopters and two flights of Aussie greyhounds arriving this month from Sydney, New South Wales (NSW). While we are very excited for their arrival, the Australian flights fly into Los Angeles. For NSW and GALT, the greyhound's welfare is always first and foremost. We've watched the devastation of the wildfires continue and have decided to postpone next week's flight. The adopters in California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona are relieved and willing to patiently wait for the flight to be rescheduled when the containment area increases, fire spread decreases and air quality improves to a healthy state.

Let's race to help the animals of Los Angeles County! We would encourage you to make a donation to Pasadena Humane animal shelter and/or Best Friends. Many of the animals in their care require veterinary attention. GALTx_Arizona will be distributing all donations made to our chapter through the end of January to the two organizations. Your contribution will make a difference!

Twenty-four hours ago, we welcomed K**e, now known as Mocha, as the first GALT AZ Galgo alumni. This sweet boy was eagerly greeted by his wonderful mom, Christine, who was way over the moon when she finally was able to meet him.

Mocha traveled from Spain with six other dogs who have loving homes waiting for them. “Thank you” no where near covers the appreciation for Sanctuary at Bluebird Lane for coordinating the transport, the dedicated volunteers who assisted with the arrivals and next leg of the travels and to Scooby and Christine for trusting us with Mocha’s adoption. Our hearts are full!

We have something BIG and LITTLE to share…We will be welcoming our first Galgo from Spain! Meet little K**e, an eight month old sweet boy, who will live the great life in Arizona!

Our fall auction benefitting our December 4th transport will get underway tonight at midnight with a soft open on our SABL's "Built With Love" Fundraising site. We will be loading auction items tonight through 11/25 with the auction running all items through December 1st at 7 PM MST time. So check in each day to see what's new and BID BID BID your big hearts out. What a wonderful way to help incoming dogs for three US groups, the Sanctuary at Bluebird Lane, SAGE Save A Galgo Español, and GALT Arizona, along with three Spanish rescues, Ibizan Hound Rescue, Mandy's Rescue Dogs, Protectora y Santuario Scooby, and Fundación Benjamín Mehnert, each who have dogs on our transport shown below. Our heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to our Founders, John and Susie McQuade. They’ve dedicated over 20 years to build one of the largest and most respected greyhound adoption organizations. Wishing John and Susie all the best in their well deserved retirement. We love you!

With the closing of our boarding kennel and the transition back to a foster based adoption group in June, 2024 has already been a year of significant change for GALT. Our biggest transition is currently in process and might be a change you have not yet heard about. Our co-founders, Susie and John McQuade, are retiring from GALT as of year-end. Susie and John founded GALT in 2001 and built our organization into one of the premier greyhound adoption groups in the country. Under their leadership, GALT found homes for more than 4,000 hounds. We cannot thank them enough for their tireless support, love, and dedication to this group and especially to the hounds. We wish them well in retirement and look forward to seeing them at a GALT event soon, as participants just having a good time and not worrying about the work!

Our new leadership team will be elected at an upcoming board meeting. Though the McQuades leave huge shoes to fill, rest assured that GALT will continue their mission and that plans are already in place for a seamless transition. We will finish 2024 strong with our annual Holiday Boutique and Santa Pictures on November 29 and 30, Giving Tuesday on December 3, our year end giving campaign, and another group of 8 Australian greyhounds arriving on December 6!

Anyone in the Tucson area who would like to help us with bird testing? We have a few adopters waiting who also share their home with birds and we could use your help. Drop us a comment or send us a message if you can help us out. (Testing, cat, small dog, birds, etc. are always done safely with dogs muzzled).
