Unfortunately we entered into an agreement with Avalon to Co-Own her with While out the country this breeder Contacted us and stated Avalon couldn’t be bred. No questions asked we refunded all money in which she received in full. we then was blocked on all social media platforms as well as all cellular communications. This breeder then contacted AKC stating she purchased a dog from us but we failed to provide paper work. AKC then reached out to us stating she was attempting to get registration if you notice the first few sentences 1. (I STATED SHE RECEIVED A FULL REFUND) 2. (SHE STATED AVALON COULD NOT BE BRED). This breeder intentionally bred Avalon with a 12month old pup name KNOX, breaching our contract not once but 4x this breeder do not own the rights to Avalon nor those puppies. This breeder is now operating out of Washington state as well as Copperas Cove Tx. However Avalon and puppies are located in Washington state… this is to warn all potential buyers and breeders that casacanecorsollc is operating under extreme unethical circumstances within their kennel. Breeding underage dogs that has failed health testing falsifying PinnHIP documents lying and stealing from potential owners then ghosting. All dogs live outside in inhumane conditions. Please beware of this kennel

Breeder Termanology what is a backyard breeder?

The people that follow us tend to enjoy more in-depth articles relating to the Cane Corso and also about how professional breeders breed.

So for those of you that like going to the various social media platforms and jumping in on the very heated debates about the CC or it’s breeders. (Just FYI the truly talented professional breeders will probably not be on any of these pages arguing because their dogs always speak for themselves.) but nevertheless I do understand that it does seem to be a popular pastime for many breed enthusiasts.

So here’s a little information about the term “Backyard breeder” and its original definition.

I think the term backyard breeder is currently supposed to refer to someone that has an amount of dogs that are being bred and it may be an unclean condition and the breeder is unknowledgeable about breeding or the general care of animals etc. etc.

Lol I may be showing my age( or level of experience) you may decide for yourself. But I can remember many years ago breeders originally using the term backyard breeder to describe the general hobby breeder we see everywhere today. Why is this? Because the term was meant to describe the general breeding practices used by the hobby breeders that only breed on the continual outcross. Just breeding on the outcross takes absolutely no special skill whatsoever and almost any “layperson can do it in their own backyard”. Never learning any advanced techniques needed to truly advance the breed they are working with in any way whatsoever. Just continually relying on the true breeders work that came before them which set type. Then the backyard breeders (usually very boastful) would like to come in and somehow take the credit for another “true breeders “ work. As you can imagine this kinda rubbed some of the professional breeders the wrong way. Which is how the term came about. At least to the best of my remembrance.

So the next time you’re on a page or chat room and the term “back yard breeder” is being thrown around you can know the definition! What tickles me is that the people using the term are usually the actual backyard breeders. If you ever want to know just look at their dog’s pedigrees and if they are only breeding on the outcross (no matter how many champions they can point out from the past) then they are the ones that would fill the bill using the original definition. I don’t personally ever use this term because I feel it would be offensive in nature.

This post is not meant to be offensive to anyone. Everyone has to learn and begin somewhere. The only thing I don’t like is when a person buys their first dogs then decides to breed and magically becomes a self proclaimed expert before their first litter even drops. It seems these are sometimes the loudest ones giving their “expert opinion “ to everyone else about the breed or breeding. These are the ones doing the breed more harm than good. Their advice is usually more wrong than right only contributing to the spreading of misinformation. I’ve been doing this a long time. I constantly try to learn more about my profession every day! Technology that will help with disease control should be reliable within the next few years or so. We plan to be at the forefront of that once it’s reliable enough to be accurate. I always try to ask other true breeders about techniques they used to set type etc. over the years to see what they have had luck with. I honestly believe to be truly good at ANYTHING in life you have to love what you do and never quit learning. Because when we stop learning we start dying.

Stole this pic from a very reputable breeder friend, but wanted to share for general information; this is the reason we stress keeping puppies on joint supplement, limiting their exercise, jumping, and heavy activity until about 18 months of age. This breed grows fast , another reason why we recommend feeding the proper cal/phros ratio, and dog food with glucosamine in it.

If feeding raw, chicken feet has high concentrations of glucosamine in it as well.
