Brookshire's (Pet Sitting and Dog Walking) is operated by retired Baltimore City Police Officer Joy Brookshire (me). While a police officer I was highly involved in animal rescue and became more involved after retiring. I have spend many ears volunteering and working at various organizations; including Wildlife Rescue, Inc and Animal Rescue, Inc. During these years I have gained vast experience
with many different animals including cats, dogs, exotic birds, farm animals, deer and many others. I have learned "on the job" about animal behavior and am able to confidently work with those with behavioral issues or special needs. I currently run a seminar actually teaching volunteers about the basics of dog behavior and how to walk and interact with dogs in a shelter enviromment. I have special place in my heart for elderly and special needs animals. I understand that you can not just drop them off at a doggie day care or trust anyone with them. I currently have a blind cat, a neurotic hound, a chihuahua with heart issues and a dog with SpinaBifida. I know first hand how difficult it is to go away for even a weekend while worrying about them. I hope to fill the void for this need, as well as happily pet sitting/dog walking those with no special needs. I am insured and you can be sure that I understand the worry involved with having a "stranger" in your house with your animal. I also am available for "off" hours for those with non-traditional shifts (Police, firefighters, nurses etc.)
