Hello everyone! We are a rescue located in Whitfield County. We are a 501c3 non profit and we aren’t funded at all other than by the amazing people in our community that donate items and help us with the rescue. At this current moment, we are at max capacity and very overwhelmed. This year has been a very hard and stressful year being in rescue, with so many animals at stray, we try so hard to help as many as we can and it feels like a never ending cycle.
We are in dyer need of laundry detergents, bleach, dishwashing liquid, windex, disinfectants, cat and kitten food, bedding, litter, cat toys, Ge**er baby food (chicken), and medications. If you would like to donate any of these items to help with the rescue, it would be greatly appreciated. We go through hundreds of dollars of food and litter in a matter of days and that not including all of the vetting and other expenses for the cats that we have to spend. We are not funded and have no source of funding or donations other than by the amazing people who want to help us with all of the cats that we rescue. We can’t thank the ones who support us enough! We are so happy to see these cats go to their forever homes! Not only did you adopt a cat, you also helped save another cat’s life! When you adopt from us, the adoption fee goes straight towards another cat in need of vetting, that we rescue. All of our cats receive spay/neuter, vaccinations, combo test, flea/worm treatment. When you adopt, we save another cat from being euthanized by overcrowded shelters or save a cat from a bad situation. This is Starla! Starla is a 1 year old and has already been through something very traumatic and inhumane. Someone had mistreated her so bad and also pulled her by the tail so hard that it broke her tail away from her pelvis as well as messing up her muscles/nerves in her lower back. She couldn’t control her bowels and couldn’t walk at all because of the extent of the nerve damage that was caused by the person who done this to her. We took her to the vet to be checked out and see what the options were for her and we were informed that there was nothing that could be done other than amputation of the tail, because of the extent of the damage. We agreed to go ahead and do the surgery. As of today, Starla is getting around much better and has control of her bowels. She is eating good, playing a little, and enjoying life now that she doesn’t have to worry about getting mistreated the way that she was. She is the most loving cat and has a personality of gold. We are asking for your help with any donation towards her vet bill or a donation for food, litter, cleaning supplies to help cut back costs for rescue and vet bills. We are not funded at all and we are non-profit. What we do is strictly from the heart and a passion that many will never understand. Things like this really open up our eyes to see that there are so many animals out there that need us. BEFORE YOU ADOPT FROM Little Bit Of Heaven Rescue. 501c3 non-profit organization

There is a lot to consider before adopting a life long friend. It should not be done on an impulse. It can happen to the best of us. You see a cute kitten just begging for your attention, You take one look, and the next thing you know, you're walking down the pet food aisle and you are ready to adopt.

Adopting a pet is a big decision. Cats can require lots of time, money, and a commitment-in many cases.
Having a cat to share your life with can be rewarding, but only if you think through your decision before you adopt a companion. Do you have time for a cat? Why do you want a cat? Can you afford the extra expenses for a cat? Can you have a cat where you live? Are your living arrangements suitable for the cat? Will you be a responsible pet owner? Finally, are you prepared to keep and care for the cat for his or her entire lifetime?

Our first interest is placing our cats in a home that will be able to care for them for the rest of their lives. Sadly, the shelters are full of cats that are turned into the shelter in their later years as their owner is no longer able to care for them. When this happens, the cats usually die from grieving for their owners and/or in most cases, are euthanized at animal shelters, after a certain time period.

(ADOPTION PROCESS)

•INTERVIEW- We will ask you questions to get to know you and make sure that the cat is going into the right home. We want our cats in the best homes with the best families. The cats that we rescue have already had a rough start at life, they deserve the best and we want to rest assure thats what they will receive, once they are adopted.

•MEET AND GREET- This helps you make up your mind on a specific cat being (the one) that you want to adopt. If you want a specific breed, male or female, color, or personality. This option helps you better choose the right cat for your household.

•ADOPTION CONTRACT- States that you are here on out responsible for the cat and taking care of the cat. Any extra vetting, medications, up to date vaccinations, will be your responsibility after the adoption is final.

•ADOPTION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE- When you adopt, the adoption fee goes straight towards another cat in need of vetting. Our cats receive: Spay/Neuter, all necessary vaccinations, dewormer, flea-tick-ear mite treatment and are combo tested. If you decide that you do not want the cat that you have adopted, we will gladly let you choose another cat that may be a better fit for your household. If you decide a cat isn’t for you, we will gladly take the cat that you have adopted back, as long as you bring all of the vetting records that you received when you adopted the cat.

Little Bit of Heaven Rescue’s mascot Calypso, who passed away in April, was one of the first cats rescued by owner Theresa Persaud. The organization will hold a cat adoption event at the Dalton PetSmart this Friday through Sunday.

Individuals visiting the Dalton PetSmart this weekend have a chance to save not one life, but two, said Theresa Persaud, the owner and adoption director of Little Bit of Heaven Rescue.

“When you adopt a cat, you’re not only saving one life, you’re saving two, because when a cat is adopted, we turn around and use that money to rescue another cat,” Persaud said.

Little Bit of Heaven Rescue, a nonprofit organization, will host a three-day cat adoption event at Dalton’s PetSmart at 1310 W. Walnut Ave. from Friday through Sunday.

Cats can be adopted Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The event will give local residents the opportunity to “meet and greet” with around 35 cats before potentially adopting them, Persaud said.

“We do have to charge a fee because we don’t have a lot of funding, so the fee goes back into spaying and neutering a new set of cats that we are able to rescue,” she said. “That’s how we keep the cycle going.”

Persaud said all cats are fully vetted, spayed and neutered, and have received all mandatory vaccinations, including combo testing and treatments for worms and fleas. All veterinary records for each cat will be supplied to each individual upon adoption.

PetSmart will also supply a free adoption coupon booklet with more than $500 worth of store savings to each adopter, Persaud said.

Persaud said team members and volunteers from Little Bit of Heaven Rescue will also be on hand inside the store throughout the event, answering any questions or concerns about adoption.

Individuals looking to donate to the organization, which is dedicated to the rescue and rehoming of cats throughout northern Georgia, will be able to do so at the event.

“We will have several donation-based items available, including earrings, blankets and stickers,” Persaud said. “You can donate and just grab a gift.”

Persaud first began rescuing cats in 2011 before starting Little Bit of Heaven Rescue around 2021.

“We started rescuing, then around four years ago, we got a (Georgia) Department of Agriculture license and we wanted to go a little further because we wanted to be able to put our cats into PetSmart and pull them from kill shelters,” Persaud said.

She said there has been a great need for rescuing cats in Dalton and surrounding areas.

“Animal shelters were having to euthanize a lot of cats,” she said. “We really try to help all of the cats that are put up for euthanasia. Every cat that we have would’ve died had we not rescued them. That’s still our main goal, to help the ones that are in shelters and need a forever home.”

Persaud said the organization holds adoption events inside PetSmart around “four or five times a year” and have rescued thousands of cats during the last decade.

“We’ve done really well at PetSmart and we’ve helped so many cats,” she said. “We’ve been successful in finding homes for them. When we do these events, we get people to come out, look at the cats and donate. All of the proceeds go towards cats in need everywhere.”

That means not just in Whitfield County, she said.

“We help cats in Polk County, Haralson County, Gordon County and Bartow County as well,” Persaud said. “We are mainly nonprofit and without funding, we really can’t operate. That’s why we do these events. We try to focus on cats that are not going to really have a chance otherwise.”

She said having the partnership with PetSmart has been “great.”

“Because without them, we’re not in the public eye,” she said. “They allow us to leave the cats in the store 24/7.”
