Our Story

The Animal Hospital of Whitfield County was established in 1978-79 by Dr. “Sonny” Mathis and has been owned and operated by Dr. Jeff Richmond and his wife Brandy Richmond since 2007. As always “AHWC’s” mission is to provide compassionate, personalized and quality veterinary medicine to our patients. We strive to serve our community by providing the best medicine available in an educational environment promoting the health and well being of your pets in all stages of life.

The Truth About Pets & taking care of each other...

A pet’s companionship can be therapeutic for their owners and have a positive impact on emotional, mental, and physical health. The American Heart Association, suggests having a pet lowers the risk of heart disease as owners tend to be more active, have lower blood pressure, and are likely to feel less stressed. They can provide social support and boost overall happiness and wellbeing. Pets earn a place in the hearts of their owners, their “people”, and truly become part of the family. Let’s take care of each other! AHWC
