Alisse Sartain took some fantastic pics of my car at Rallycross - Third time is the charm? The radiator fan self destructed on my first lap and cut my day short, but for one minute and 32 seconds, I had the time of my life.

This week in dirt biking news: my son, Chase is in town to use my lift to replace the rear main seal on his truck. He brought his dirt bike. Today we went to the Red River trails where I showed him how to gracelessly descend a steep embankment. The trails where a ton of fun. My butt hurts.

I managed a second place overall finish at Austin Rally Project yesterday. Much improved over my last race there and nothing broke. What a great day.

I rebuilt the fuel regulator in my rallycross car and found metal shavings in it (probably from one of the many failed fuel pumps), so I decided to replace the fuel filter also. When I removed it, it made a suspicious clunking noise so I opened it up and found that the filter had come loose from the glue holding it in place which means any metal shavings would have been pumped into the fuel injectors. So now I have a new fuel pump, two new fuel filters, a rebuilt fuel regulator, and six fancy new purple fuel injectors. We’ll see how long these components last.

The good news is only one bearing had excessive wear (picture). The bad news is I had to tear down the engine to figure this out, so I might as well replace them all while I’m here.

This damage is nowhere near as bad as the last two times I tore it down. I’m not sure where the metal shavings in the oil came from. Maybe they didn’t get cleaned out last time?

It took three fuel pumps, but I managed to take first place overall at yesterdays North Texas Rallycross. I’d like to thank my sponsors:

Today’s North Texas Rallycross race was canceled due to rain so I might as well use today as an opportunity to redesign the back end of the car. Next race is in two weeks. Wish me luck.
