If your dog is like most dogs, they probably love car rides — the breeze on their face, the sun warming their fur, and all those new smells. You love to indulge them whenever possible, but taking them along with you inevitably means leaving them alone in the car for at least a few minutes. Leaving your dog in a car on a hot day can cause heat stroke.
Cracking a window and parking in the shade does not make much of a difference. The problem is that cars are temperature conductors. Even in the shade and with the windows down, cars conduct and amplify the outdoor temperature — it doesn't need to be very warm outside for the inside of your car to become unbearably hot.
Keep your dog safe this summer by understanding how fast your car heats up.

With summer festivities kicking off, we want to remind you about the symptoms of heatstroke and prevention tips:
- NEVER leave your pet unattended in a car
- When hot/humid, keep your pet's time outdoors limited
- Keep your pet hydrated
- Ensure your pet has ventilation and a cool environment
- Dogs with short noses are at higher risk due to their condensed facial anatomy and restricted ability to cool themselves

If any signs of heat stroke appear, please contact our team immediately.

As we kick off Memorial Day weekend, we wanted to share some pet safety tips to remember!
- Keep alcohol and table scraps away from your pet
- Never leave your pet unsupervised around bodies of water
- Keep your pet hydrated
- Limit time in the sun and heat
- Keep your pet away from fireworks
- Make sure your pet has an ID tag or is microchipped

This week Britt shows us how you can get you dog acclimated to a physical exam at home.
