Every dog reacts differently to the slat mill, it’s not a ‘natural’ feeling for the floor to move under their feet but they quickly catch on and start to enjoy the burn off of that pent up energy.

Lucy got to visit her first ever store and she did great. She was timid and a bit nervous but all very appropriate behaviors that recieved lots of praise. Some dogs may not “want” to handle the stimulation of being in public but Lucy will continue to build confidence in a public setting!
Oh and also this… this crazy girl is so sound sensitive and can lose focus in an instant yet here she is… getting vacuumed. Because why not? #DogsOfInstagram #happydogs #dogtrainer
A little snippet of the many, many reps we practiced! Introducing the recall to Lucy is a bit different than most. She actually has a really good reflex when she hears her recall cue but she overshoots the return, by a mile, and then gets lost in a zoomie fit. So what you see me do is catch her and give her lots of scratches and attention because again, she doesn’t always work for food. And then the release cue to send her back out to play! She is a goofy girl but she is doing great. It comes down to winning the game of “I don’t feel like it” here and helping her become more confident and boost her listening skills.
Here is a taste of what a session may look like working with a dog, from here we just repeat it over and over gradually increasing the difficulty. Tucker is doing fantastic! He is very excitable but we have worked a lot on Impulse Control to help him make better choices. Big thanks to my little boy for putting up with my requests to challenge these pups 🤣 he initially started to creep over and potentially push Tucker over the edge so I had to request a normal walk. #dogtraining #BoardAndTrain #goldendoodle #positivereinforcement

We are working on his feelings around new dogs, he is nervous but has shown that he can make friends! He also seems cat friendly and we will continue to test with cats. He is the best boy and just wants to snuggle on the couch. He is mature and doesn’t really need much other than mild exercise and love. He will get 30 second zoomies and than he is done, he will play fetch for a bit and than he is done, he would much rather be curled up with some blankies and… be done 😴 schedule to meet this love bug!
