The Dac

hshund, sometimes affectionately referred to as a “wiener dog”, “hot dog”, “sausage dog”, and “Doxie”, is known for its long body and short legs. They were originally bred to be an independent hunter of badgers and other dangerous prey. The Dachshund originated in Germany and means “badger dog” in German. Their lineage can be traced back over 600 years and they have been a national symbol of Germany for a long time. The AKC admitted them to the Stud Book in 1885 and considers them part of the Hound Group.

Venus is 7 weeks old!!

Venus is my trouble maker 😅. I’m always honest about my puppies as I want the absolute best fit for them and this little girl right here is a smart little cookie. She figures everything out and is so happy to keep me on my toes. She really uses her brain and her personality has really popped as she’s grown. She would excel in a home with someone who doesn’t mind a shadow at their heels and who is active in some way (hiking partner?) or who loves to play games with their pups. I would not describe her as a couch potato although she’ll happily give you cuddles as well. She was the first to discover how to escape and how to use her voice. Like I said she absolutely loves to use her brain so training should be fun. Her cream is really coming through and honestly I think she looks a lot like her half brother Sigmund at this stage. Enrichment activities will be a favorite for this pup and I do not recommend her for a family who is wanting a more mellow puppy as that does not fit her at all. She is full of Sass.

This girl is sassy. She’s what I would define as the middle sibling. She watches her sister Venus and can get into trouble with her, but also is happy to play and cuddle up with Jazzy (Neptune). She absolutely adores people and is always wagging her tail.
