Some exotics are my favorites to take care of! Mom and dad were away so I was able to care for Silfa and Skyr all week β€οΈ Every morning before I have their food out they chirp to their hearts content
Nixie is back to stay with us for the weekend and I would say she is a happy girl! Lots of time for love and playing with Enzo!
Can we give Nixie a lot of praise here? This girl normally is very reactive to meeting new humans. I have her for a board and train and am able to pinpoint what she needs and why she was acting the way she was. Normally upon meeting someone new there is a lot of growling, barking and lunging at new humans. I have had her a couple days and have created a balanced schedule for her with constant leadership, some challenges big and small to allow her to overcome and build her confidence, as well as time in between to decompress. This is her today meeting my cousin for the first time, drama free; not feeling like she has to take over the situation. Let's give her a round of applause! I am so proud of her!!
Between the holidays, illnesses and the weather, out door training sessions have been on hold. We were able to squeeze one in this week with Hoppus! Hoppus is an exuberant, excited large mix breed who can be a little reactive at times. We did multiple sessions with building blocks in helping him achieve a calm, confident submissive state of mind and had a very successful lesson with Enzo as the demo dog as well as the dog to help train Hoppus. Look at how great he did!
Jude and Luke are prepared for the cold in their adorable sweaters! Nothing stops these two from enjoying their walks!

This. Right. Here. This will never get old to me! Older couple having an extremely hard time walking their 1 yr old golden retriever. After 10 minutes I have her walking nicely for me and then I continue to walk with her so she gets the feeling and the bonding experience. Then I hand her over so they see how they are able to walk her confidently as well. I love love love being able to do this for people.
Working with Belle, a 5 month old Golden Retriever; showing her and her mom how to walk together! Notice how Belle is not pulling or jumping? Those are behaviors she exhibits for mom and dad so I am giving them the tools to help make her walk enriching and rewarding.

When we started working with Lilly, she was very unsure of larger dogs - showing signs of her distress, distrust (and shall we say, disdain). After working with her for a few sessions, never overwhelming her; this is her now! We are so proud of her and mom for their progress and determination!

Razor is a 4.5 year old English Setter who was just adopted 2 weeks ago and has never had any leash training! I was able to get Razor this confident and comfortable within an hour, and then have mom take over to see how a good walk should feel. Mom will practice with him throughout the week to see what kind of progress he makes! Good job Razor!! ππΌ
