🌟 Welcome Dr. Dacelle Peckler to the Heartland Team! 🌟

We are thrilled to announce that you’ll start seeing a lot more of Dr. Dacelle Peckler at Heartland, primarily on Mondays and Tuesdays!

Dr. Peckler is a proud Danville native who graduated from Danville High School in 1988. She went on to attend the University of Kentucky, where she earned her bachelor’s degrees in Anthropology and Biology, as well as her master’s degree in Entomology. Her passion for animals then led her to Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated in 2000.

Since then, Dr. Peckler has been practicing both small and large animal medicine and surgery. She has been part of the Heartland family since around 2005, working as a relief veterinarian whenever our team needed her.

When she’s not caring for animals, Dr. Peckler loves spending time outdoors fishing, hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, gardening, and working on her two farms. Her farms are home to a variety of animals, including sheep, cattle, horses, dogs, and cats. She has a huge heart for rescuing animals and is passionate about rehabilitating injured and sick wildlife.

We couldn’t be more excited to have her officially join our team and know she’s going to be an incredible addition to our Heartland family!

Please join us in giving Dr. Peckler a warm welcome when you see her, and don’t forget to say hello on Mondays and Tuesdays! 🐾

A Life-Changing Eye Surgery: Enucleation Success! 🐾👁️

Recently, one of our feline patients underwent enucleation—a procedure to remove a damaged or diseased eye. In this case, we suspected trauma or a possible tumor caused significant damage, making the surgery necessary to relieve pain and improve their quality of life.

We’re happy to report that this brave kitty is now recovering wonderfully and adjusting well to their new eyesight at home! Cats are incredibly resilient and often amaze us with their ability to adapt to big changes like this.

If you’ve ever wondered about procedures like this or have concerns about your own pet’s health, we’re here to help!❤️🐾

We love all of our patients but we like to specifically recognize our sweet puppies / kittens so we can celebrate them getting checked out and highlight how important it is to get your new babies up to date on their healthcare, for their safety and the safety of other pets!

Emergency Exploratory Surgery🏥🩻

We recently had a unique case involving one of our very own team members, Madisyn's dog, Lexi. Lexi got into some trouble at home, chewing on electrical cords like phone chargers and a space heater cord. Afterward, she became lethargic and unable to walk, prompting Madisyn to rush her to Heartland.

X-rays revealed chewed-up electrical cords in Lexi's stomach. Dr. Rowland immediately performed an emergency exploratory surgery to remove the cords. During the surgery, we also found parts of a p*e pad she had chewed up some time ago!

We suspect Lexi's behavior was related to anxiety, leading her to chew and swallow unusual objects. Thankfully, Lexi is now at home with Madisyn and her family, recovering well and on the road to a full recovery.

This case serves as an important reminder to pet owners: monitor your pets closely for signs of unusual chewing or eating habits and make your home as safe as possible to avoid dangerous situations like this.

We’re so glad Lexi is doing well and back where she belongs—with her loving family!
