I hope this message finds you and your furry family members in good health! As part of my commitment to keeping your pups happy, healthy, and thriving, I wanted to address some concerns about the canine upper respiratory illness that has been in the media. 🛑 Do not panic! There are no reported cases in our area as of yet, and hopefully there never will be, but it’s never too soon to take precautions and I just wanted you to be aware.
Preventative Measures:
I would like to note some important details that might make you feel more comfortable about having your dog(s) groomed with Wags Bayside. I always work with the dogs one on one, or if multiple dogs, only from the same household. I wash my hands and/or use hand sanitizer frequently through the day and between working with each dog. All surfaces and tools are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between use and each stop. At night, a UV light is placed inside the van to help disinfect the salon area. I will also refuse to accept any dogs who are showing symptoms.
Recognizing the symptoms:
It is crucial to be aware of the potential symptoms, which include coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, and lethargy. If you notice any of these signs in your pet and your grooming appointment is coming up, please make sure to reach out to me and I will reschedule your appointment to a later date once they have fully recovered.
Vaccination Status:
I always strongly recommend that your dog is current on all veterinary recommended vaccines. While these annual respiratory illnesses are not likely covered by routine vaccines, they may help prevent your dog from other illnesses that might weaken their immune systems.
If you have any further questions or concerns, I highly recommend consulting with your veterinarian.
