Friday, January 25th someone who leases a horse called to tell me all the chickens and some of the rabbits were dead. There were 2 neighborhood dogs at the barn, also. One was a boxer but very skiddish. The other was a husky. The dead animals were still warm when we got there so I know the dogs are the one who killed the chickens and rabbits. They called the owners who said they had been out all day. These pictures are of the pens that the husky tore up to kill these animals. I will not post the dead animals because it was terrible. I found husky hair on the lattice of the chicken coop. The owner also admitted she knew the husky did it because the mother dog killed 2 kittens they had. The owner originally said she would pay for the replacement of animals and property but has since said she will not. The total is 1,250. to replace the animals, cages & repair the coop & rabbit pin. My 14 year old daughter bought all of this stuff with her own money. The owner said they were out previously for 2 weeks. She said they installed an underground fence so this sshould not happen again but I know plenty of dogs who have gotten out with an underground fence. I found dog prints all around the rabbit cages and all in the chicken coop. I called Animal Control but they were closed so the police were called and the officer was no help. He thought it Could be the dogs or a coyote. Coyotes have killed 2 chickens that were out and ate most of the bodies. The chickens and rabbits had broken necks so it was not a coyote. Also, coyote prints are very different. Isn’t it strange the time the danimals were killed that neighborhood dogs were on the property? Coincidence? NO!!! The husky killed 13 chickens and 3 rabbits. The only other problem we have had at the stables is when a dog killed a goat about 3 or 4 years ago. All kinds of animals come though but we have never had this kind of violence before. Everyone please let me know if you see these dogs out and call Animal Control. I’m curious if anyone else in the neighborhood has had anything killed. Once an amnimal starts killing they will continue so everyone beware! Please share this so no one else will have to go through this terrible nightmare and lose their beloved pets.. It was heartbreaking to see and we had lesson kids coming up while we were trying to get the dead animals up.
