Our Story
Do you remember when you first fell in love with horses? The first time you saw them running in a field. The first time you felt their whiskers and soft lips graze the palm of your hand. The first time the smell of the barn filled your lungs. The first time you heard them nicker happily to you. The first time you swung your leg over and sat on a horse. These memories will stick with you for the rest of your life. Archangel Equestrian is the home of many memories. The start of childhood dreams coming true.
Archangel Equestrian is owned and run by Melissa Sylvia. Melissa is the creator of Archangel’s most popular program “Horses in Warfare” This program consists of Classical/Western Dressage, Mounted Archery, Mounted Sparring and Trick Training. Melissa also specializes in training off the track thoroughbreds, ground driving, and rehabbing horses. She works one on one with her students to help them set goals, overcome fears, and enhance their riding by using her understanding of rider body mechanics as well as teaching riders “feel” through dressage. In addition students will learn safety, how to respond in emergency situations in the saddle and on the ground. Each lesson is catered specially for the rider and each lesson has a takeaway message. Melissa is also a clinician. She has traveled all over to teach clinics on Mounted Archery, Horses in Warfare, as well as Safety First.
Archangel Equestrian is home to the Nerd Herd (follow them on facebook at “The Nerd Herd” and instagram “aee_the_nerd_herd”!) We have a beautiful 8 acre fenced in grass field that is set up with a jump course, cloverleaf barrels, and our mounted archery range. In the back of our property is a gorgeous 4 acre cross country course that is both grass and wooded terrain. At the front of our property is a small grass ring for more focused schooling as well as a round pen for beginner riders.
