How does your dog react to you when you are sick? 🤧

Who is the most difficult to train?
Humans stuck in their routines. I’ll take absolutely anything over a stubborn human.
Yes. Even the mighty Chihuahua pales in comparison to human obstinance.

Got all your holiday shopping done…including Fluffy?

Krypto the Superdog in the new Superman trailer came from a hoarding situation.

Motivation vs stimulation.
Love is a bottom tier motivator and typically is only valuable in low stim situations. Play and food are great for high stimulation areas, but the importance on timing payments takes over.

Getting a diffuser for the holiday? Certain essential oils are toxic to our pets.
A list in the comments.

Do you know why Scooby-Doo is a Great Dane? It’s because Germans believed they scared away ghosts and evil spirits!

A “learned behavior” good or bad comes through routine. If you have unwanted behaviors, change the pattern. It really is that simple. But adapting to change after years worth of routine is difficult for us humans.

Six reactive dogs on the schedule today:
Two Frenchies & two Pitties. One German Shepherd and one Golden Retriever.
Let’s get into it.

Thank you all for yesterday.
Our vet bill was to be expected, but it’s at times like these that we are happy we have insurance. We have a reimbursement plan through Happy Paws; but be sure to research plans in your budget!

It’s almost as if *gasp* it was invented to TEACH them to pull 🧐

Dogs generally pull about 60 per cent harder on a leash when wearing a padded harness compared with a collar, even when the equipment is marketed as “anti pull” – putting the people walking them at risk of injury.

Some dogs – especially smaller breeds – pull with a force more than twice their body weight on the collar, potentially damaging their throats, says Erin Perry at Southern Illinois University.

“It’s really very shocking,” she says. “The dogs are almost choking themselves on that collar repeatedly. But the harnesses in our study just didn’t inhibit pulling in any way, and that’s definitely a wake-up call – especially because of the risk to owners.”

Oliver here:

I made a mistake.

I clicked on an R+ ONLY video without knowing…I did not know. I. Did. Not. Know.

In case you do not know: R+ and FF stand for Positive Reinforcement and Force Free. That is their entire philosophy/ideology.

“Look, I correct my dogs,” and proceeds to repeat his Out command 3 times while speaking to the dog like a toddler. “Do I need to give you the three degrees?” And he calls that. A correction.

Listen. Folks. Team R+ are fantastic at what they do: manipulating your heartstrings. Because they already know you have an unhealthy relationship with your dog. Their money comes from keeping it that way and ensuring you are a long term client shelling out THOUSANDS on the regular.

We use R+ techniques all the time because we want MORE of the behavior being exhibited. Hence reinforcement. We here at O&Co try not to use too many fancy words, we break everything down because heck, most of our clients have kids and we even want 5 year old Sally to understand the assignment.

Reinforcement = I want more

Correction or *shudder* punishment = I want less

No. Do not hit your dog. Do not kick your dog. Do not throw them in the crate. Do not s***k them. You know what a fun correction is? Space invasion. Works like a charm. Removing a toy? Oh gosh, so cruel, Fluffy will lose their mi-

*Tosses toy* **Prey Drive Activates**

That being said, I have girls younger than fictional Sally here whom can recall their dog at the public park. Heck, they can even correct their dog without conflict. Why can’t you? Because of your relationship with your dog. Plain and simple.

At the end of the day, that is still an animal in your house. You may see them as a cute baby, but your neighbor see’s a liability with your reactive dog or a pushover with your invasive dog. Stop chasing “fixes” and start looking for true assistance. That’s what we provide.

Does it take work?

Yes.

Is it fast?

It depends on you.

Dogs have a four second attention span and learn incredibly quickly. That’s why your dog behaves so well with the trainer when they come over. But as long as you stay diligent and maintain the course, results speak for themselves.

It is one of the best parts about this industry: the change we can make. “People do not change” is entirely disproven daily by our clients, and watching the healthy bonds form sticks with us forever. That click moment between a handler and their dog when they form that proper companionship: goosebumps. Always.

Want to feel some goosebumps? Call or message us now!

Keep moving forward!!! ✌🏻❤️✌🏻❤️

Multi-dog homes. Training only works when everyone is on the same page. Yes. That means the dogs you locked in your room or outside while we evaluate the “new addition”.
