A great decision is bringing a shelter dog home, but the right questions can ease the transition for both you and your new furry friend! So here are 5 critical questions you need to consider before adopting:

1️⃣ What’s their background? Knowing their history might enable you to be a better support for them.
2️⃣ How have they adjusted at the shelter? How they act when entering a new environment can be telling about what they need from you.
3️⃣ Am I allowed to see their medical records? Be ahead with any health problems!
4️⃣ What is their personality like? Playful? Shy? Food-motivated? Learn what makes them tick!
5️⃣ Are they microchipped? If not, prioritize it after adoption!

🏡 Ready to adopt? Head to your local shelter to meet your new best friend! Big thanks to PetPlace. Check out Reader Digest for these tips on adoption!

Don’t ignore the signs, Mimi’s swollen face was more than just a cute puff!

Sudden facial swelling in dogs can be a sign of an allergic reaction, and it can become serious fast. Whether it’s a bee sting, new treat, or something else in their environment, your pet needs help right away!

Watch for:
• Puffy eyes, muzzle, or lips
• Itchy skin or hives
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Trouble breathing

What to do:
• Call your vet immediately
• Keep your pet calm and cool
• Never give human meds without vet guidance
• Trust your gut—when in doubt, check it out!

Stay alert and keep your furry friends safe. Mimi is doing great now, but she’s a great reminder of how quickly things can escalate!

It’s Baby Opossum season! 🦝💚

Our team has helped countless little opossums over the years!

Did you know? Opossums are the ONLY native marsupial in North America, meaning mamas carry their babies in a pouch, just like kangaroos! 😍

Plus, these little guys have a super cool secret: their low body temperature makes them naturally resistant to rabies! 🌡️✨

Let’s give a round of applause for these amazing creatures and yourselves for making it possible to return so many of them to their natural homes! 👏

Please consider donating to our 501C3 program, God’s Helping Hands, to help us keep taking care of these awesome members of our Florida ecosystem.

It’s not all safe for your furry friends! ❌🐶🐱 Some popular myths do more harm than good, and it’s time to set the record straight. Did you know that garlic is poisonous to animals? That salt, which is sometimes recommended to make your pet vomit, can cause seizures? 😱

The best remedy? Always ask your vet first! If your pet has ingested something poisonous, call the ASPCA Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 or your veterinarian immediately.

🌟 Let's do our part to keep our pets safe and educated! Share this with anyone who should see it, and tag a pet parent in need of this information. With this important info, courtesy of ASPCA! 💙

It’s National Heartworm Awareness Month, and it’s our goal to keep those furry tails wagging and those hearts beating strong! Heartworms are dangerous, they’re stealthy little parasites transmitted by pesky mosquitoes (boo!) that can do a number on your dog’s heart, lungs, and general vibe.

Did you know that one bite from an infected mosquito is all it takes to put your pup at risk? Crazy, right? But don’t sweat it, your local neighborhood vet crew has you covered! With regular checkups, a straightforward blood test, and some quality preventive goodies (delicious chewables or rapid treatments come to mind), you can keep the four-legged love of your life heartworm-free and fully charged for zoomies.

Contact us today to schedule a heartworm test or discuss a prevention strategy that is right for your dog. Let’s keep those hearts happy!

The flowers have bloomed, birds are chirping, and the sun is shining—spring is finally in full swing! 🌞🌷 How is your fur baby enjoying the warmer days? Are they rolling in the grass, sniffing every flower, or just lounging in the sunshine? We’d love to see it!

🐶 Spring Safety Tips:
• Keep an eye out for allergies (yes, pets can have them too!).
• Make sure they stay hydrated and avoid hot pavement during walks.
• Check for ticks and fleas after outdoor adventures.

Drop a picture of your pet soaking up spring in the comments below! Let’s fill this feed with sunshine, smiles, and wagging tails. 🌼
