January is all about new beginnings, and that includes teaching your pup some new tricks (or brushing up on the basics)! 🐶💡 Training isn’t just fun—it’s a great way to bond with your dog and keep them safe.

💡 Training Tips for Success:

1. Start with the Basics: Focus on sit, stay, and come for a strong foundation.

2. Keep it Short: Aim for 5–10 minute sessions and end with a win. 🏆

3. Use Positive Reinforcement: Reward with treats, toys, or belly rubs! 🦴

4. Be Consistent: Stick to the same words and gestures for each command.

5. Stay Patient: Celebrate small wins and take breaks when needed.

Training builds trust, strengthens your bond, and makes life with your dog more enjoyable. 🎯 Share your training goals or tips in the comments—let’s support each other! 🐾

We’re excited to share another wildlife success story from St. Charles! A compassionate Good Samaritan found this wild Barred Owl unable to fly and weak and brought him to us for care. Fortunately, he appeared to be just stunned and made a full recovery with some warmth and supportive treatment. Our practice manager, Nicole, had the honor of releasing this magnificent owl back into the wild where he belongs.

At St. Charles, we're always here to help sick and injured wildlife, making stories like these possible. If you’d like to support our mission, please consider donating to our non-profit program, God’s Helping Hands, to help more creatures return to their natural homes!

Did you know that taking care of your pet's oral health can add years to their life? Regular home care like VOHC-approved treats, chews, and brushing is a great start—but it’s not enough! Pets (yes, even cats and ferrets!) need professional dental cleanings to prevent pain and infection caused by dental disease.

At St. Charles Veterinary Hospital, our dental services go beyond the surface. We provide:

✨ Pre-anesthetic screenings for safety
✨ X-rays to catch hidden issues
✨ Gum checks, tartar removal, and polishing

Sedation-free cleanings just don’t cut it for a thorough evaluation, so trust us to give your furry friend the complete care they deserve.
