Master the art of brushing!🐾

Brushing your dog isn’t just about them looking nice, it’s essential for their skin health and comfort too. One of the best techniques to prevent tangles, mats, and excessive shedding on long haired breeds is line brushing. Here’s a quick run down!

✅ Brush in sections! – Begin brushing near the lower hind end and work your way up in small sections so you don’t miss any spots.

✅ Create a “line” – Lift a section of fur and brush from root to tip before moving on. Do not go over the same spot too many times as this will create brush burn.

✅ Use the proper tools – A slicker brush and a fine tooth comb to check for any missed tangles.

✅ Be gentle, patient, and consistent!

💡Pro Tip:
• Be sure to ALWAYS brush your dog out fully before giving them a bath as any knots will get tighter with moisture!🛁

Let’s talk about matting!🛁✂️

Did you know matting isn’t just uncomfortable for your pet, but it can also lead to serious skin and health issues? Here’s why a regular grooming schedule (every 5-8 weeks) is so important:

What is matting?
Matting happens when your pets fur gets tangled and forms tight knots that overlap each other over time. This can pull on their skin and cause bruising, open wounds, and lack of circulation to limbs if left untreated. Matting traps moisture, dirt, and bacteria on the skin which leads to irritation.

FACT: Bathing makes the matting tighter. Make sure your fluffy bestie is brushed completely out before bath time at home!
