~13 years ago, a little girl drew a picture for me after I trained her puppy, Willow. It made its way onto a peg board in my office that day and hasn’t moved since.

Fast forward to today, the same “little girl” has grown up and we have pleasure of training her new puppy, Maggie.

Honored, humbled, thankful and always appreciative to be given the opportunity to do what we love.

Shhh.... Buster probably wouldn't want us telling you this, but he's actually pretty insecure about new people. You wouldn't know it though, because he hides that insecurity by acting like a big tough guy. A lot of behaviors that seem outwardly aggressive stem from fear reactivity. These dogs blossom with training, because that gives you a way to communicate with them that they can understand. Then they learn they don't have to be nervous and afraid, because you'll take care of them in those scary (for them!) moments. If you're having trouble with reactivity or unsure why your dog is displaying the unwanted behaviors they are, give us a call or text to see how we can help! 704-724-4193

Handsome Remy says "Look deep into my eyes...... now, treats please!" While Chesapeake Bay Retrievers are incredibly intelligent, they are a little different than most retrievers in that they tend to be more independent and more standoffish with strangers than Golden or Labrador retrievers. This means that they need an owner who is dedicated to putting in the time, energy and effort to ensure they are well behaved and well socialized. Remy's owners have done a great job!

Pearl says don't let her size fool you, she's totally the boss here! Frank doesn't mind, as long as she'll play with him. Sometimes introducing a new dog to the house doesn't go as smoothly as it did for these two, especially with a large age or size difference. If you're having trouble integrating your new family member, text or call us at 704-724-4193 to see how we can help everybody achieve harmony!

Do you have a dog that loves to play fetch but hates to actually give you the ball back to throw again? Tired of playing the "No Take, Only Throw" game with them? If you notice behind Jovie there is another yellow ball identical to the one between her paws. Having another identical ball is an easy way to help end the keep away and get back to playing fetch. As your pup gets close to you, show them the second ball in your hand and just wait for them to drop the one they're holding. As soon as they do, mark it with a "YES!" and throw the ball in your hand. They learn pretty quickly that coming back and dropping the ball is how they get you to throw it again and you have a much more enjoyable game to play together!

Mable is contemplating how it's Monday again already while practicing her down stay outside around other dogs. Mabel's such a happy girl and loves everybody, so resisting the urge to get up and greet them is hard for her. With super social dogs like her, waiting until they are calm before allowing interactions with people helps to prevent jumping and overly enthusiastic greetings. If that sounds like something you could use a hand with, text or call us at 704-724-4193 to see how we can help!

Racing into the weekend right along with you Dawson! Good news buddy, it's 5 o'clock now, let the good times roll. Dawson has been a great camper and fully embraces the "work hard play harder" mindset.

You're heard of the Golden Girls, now let us introduce you to the Golden Guys! Skye (left) and Norman had a great time getting their wiggles out and sniffing all the things on their playdate. Their smiles are certainly contagious!

Handsome Buster might not look like he's working hard, but it's a big challenge for him to get his brain to slow down. Learning to relax is a skill that actually needs to be taught to many dogs, especially high drive working dogs. Need a hand teaching your dog to stop and smell the roses? Sometimes getting the perfect photo takes us getting in some weird positions. Sierra decided this was the perfect opportunity to offer her "help." Pretty sure she approves even if this wasn't the photo we were aiming for. 😂😘
