Remember this cutie? Oliver was one of the rescued rabbits from St. Thomas, he was just a little thing when we first met him. Now he’s all grown up and living his best life with his furever family! Today Oliver came in to be neutered and Dr. Forward & team took extra great care of him, making sure he received plenty of hugs while he recovered. This sweet girl is on the road to recovery after Dr. Comeaux and team removed several masses during her surgery yesterday. You may have heard us talk about using a surgical laser during certain procedures, but have you ever seen it in action? The surgical laser is different from our therapy laser in that the surgical laser is used to actually cut tissue. Our little love Sawyer is 3 months post op from a completely severed trachea repair and he is doing great! It was a wild ride: 1. Starving and wandering in the freezing cold for 2 weeks.2. Euthanasia recommended (understandably so). 3. 5 people, 5 hours in surgery, no guarantee he would be able to breathe (but he could - yay!)4. 10 days later collapse of his surgery site - back to surgery, no guarantee he would be able to breathe (but he could - yay!)5. 2 weeks later surgery to go in and open his site just a little bit more. 6. 3 weeks later doing great :-)Many of you donated to his surgery and after care, and we are all forever grateful! His only disability at this point is that his breathing is loud and labored when he is excited, but he knows to settle himself down. He has made dog and cat friends, and he continues to be the most optimistic, grateful dog. Throughout his surgeries, we didn’t feel right adopting Sawyer out, not knowing what his chances were for survival. But now we feel he is stable and ready to find his furever home. If you have a warm bed for this lovely little soul, let us know and we will connect you with the people who took him in and saved his life. Please share to friends and family. Splenic tumors, what do we do?
We typically recommend removing the spleen in dogs barring any major red flags. And often we are asked why? This is why! This sweet pup presented Thursday down and out and feeling terrible. He had a belly full of blood from a small bleeding tumor on the spleen. We had to make the quick decision to let him go or try surgery. We started a blood transfusion to stabilize him and took him to surgery within hours of presentation.

Already this boy feels so much better and his loving family has more time with him.
Now we can focus our energy on hoping the tumor is benign. Please send all your good vibes on a benign pathology report!
