Dr. Linda Okonkowski, Board Certified Internist, and her dedicated assistant Selena recently visited partner clinic, Orchard Lake Animal Hospital, with a special task: perform an abdominal ultrasound on the lively pup, Bruno! 🐶💨

Bruno was experiencing some GI symptoms that needed further investigation. No need to worry, though. Bruno didn't let this slow him down as he showed the team how fast he was during his display of zoomies!

Meet Ezma & Winston, the fearless Sphynx duo with big personalities! 🐈‍⬛🐈

Board Certified Cardiologist Dr. Christina Bové and her assistant, Rachyl, recently visited Indian Tree Animal Hospital to perform echocardiograms on these sweet felines. Ezma (on the right) was just happy to be there, but Winston was slightly grumpy about his field trip to the hospital.

Did you know that Sphynx cats, known for their affectionate nature and unique hairless appearance, are more susceptible to heart disease than other feline breeds? Both Ezma and Winston were diagnosed with HCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) at a young age. This condition involves the thickening of the heart muscle, which can impair its ability to efficiently pump blood. Regular checkups are essential for Ezma and Winston to monitor their HCM and ensure they enjoy a long, healthy life filled with purrs and cuddles! 🫀🩺

Barley needed surgery to remove a hefty splenic mass, weighing an impressive 5.4 pounds! We're happy to announce that Dr. Swiderski successfully removed the mass, and Barley is expected to have a smooth recovery. Wishing this precious boy many more afternoon naps and extra treats! 😴🦴

Board Certified Internist Dr. Ashleigh Seigneur and her assistant, Ash, enjoyed meeting sweet Lola at Northeast Animal Clinic. She stole the team's hearts during her abdominal ultrasound, showering them with affectionate looks and sweet gestures. At only thirteen pounds, Lola really is the complete package. 😉💕

Board Certified Internist Dr. Stephanie Phillips and her assistant, Lori, were recently invited back to West Frederick Veterinary Hospital to assist in the care of Cleo, a 15-year-old feline. Cleo needed an abdominal ultrasound to investigate some recent unexplained weight loss. We're happy to report that her ultrasound revealed nothing serious, only some mild changes in her intestines. 🙌🥳 She was a patient lady for her procedure, and the team couldn't help but notice her cute little brown toe beans! 🫘😍

Board Certified Cardiologist Dr. Lydia Soydan and her technician, Maggie, recently visited True Veterinary Care/Sarah Kalstrup, DVM, to perform a recheck echocardiogram on Mojo, an 11-year-old Beagle with MMVD (Myxomatous mitral valve disease). 🐶🩺

Myxomatous mitral valve disease is a heart condition affecting the mitral valve, which is like a door between two heart chambers. In MMVD, this valve becomes floppy and doesn't close properly, which can lead to problems like leaking or regurgitation of blood back into the wrong chamber. Over time, this can make the heart work harder and cause symptoms like coughing, difficulty breathing, and tiredness. It's a common condition in older dogs, especially smaller breeds, but with proper management and care, many dogs can live comfortably with MMVD for a long time!

We're happy to report that Mojo's heart disease remains stable, and he is doing great! And how cute is his tag?! Mojo's incredible mom got this for him to indicate his heart condition and need for daily medication. 🥹🫀

Can you guess the foreign body?! 👀🔎

Board Certified Internist Dr. Nick Parente and his technician, Emma, recently visited Canfield Vet, Dog and Cat Hospital, where they came to the rescue of a curious 3-year-old Lab, George!

George and his Lab sibling were having a blast playing with their human sibling's toys when the mischief bug bit a little too hard. Amidst the playtime frenzy, George decided to sample some toys and swallowed a surprise foreign body. Thankfully, George's vigilant pawrents suspected playtime had taken a twist and took him to the hospital for some investigating. After radiographs revealed a foreign body, and repeat radiographs showed the foreign object wasn't passing, Dr. Parente was called to retrieve it. Luckily, the culprit was retrieved - a sneaky little marble! 😲👏

Here's to many more toy-filled, but hopefully marble-free, playdates for George! Thank you to Dr. Meg Brooker and the entire Canfield Vet Dog and Cat Hospital team for your partnership and for entrusting us with the care of your patients. We hope to see you again soon! 🙌🥳

Bo needed an abdominal ultrasound to investigate some new abnormalities, but did he let that faze him? Not a chance! From the moment he walked in, Bo's smile lit up the room, and his tail wagged through the entire procedure. 🥰❤️

Board Certified Cardiologist Dr. Lydia Soydan and her technician, Maggie, recently had the pleasure of meeting Blue, a 4-year-old Doberman needing an echocardiogram. The team was invited back to Marshall Pet Care Clinic, where Blue's charm worked its magic as they imaged his heart, and it's safe to say he stole their hearts in return! 💙🐾

After being rescued and testing positive for heartworms, the team screened Blue for secondary cardiac complications. And guess what? 🎉 His echo showed normal function and structure. Blue's heart is as strong as his spirit!

We're over the moon (or should we say, over the hearts? 😉) to share this fantastic news! Blue has found his perfect forever home, and we couldn't be happier for him. From belly scratches to endless love, he's in for a lifetime of happiness.

A Paw-sitive Update and a Snoozy Puppy! 😴🐾

At their recent visit to North Main Animal Hospital, P.C., Board Certified Internist Dr. Linda Okonkowski and her assistant Selena had the pleasure of meeting Eisen, a charming 13-week-old Rottweiler puppy.

Eisen was experiencing recurrent UTIs, prompting the need for an abdominal ultrasound. He just couldn't resist the soothing hum of the ultrasound machine and dozed off during his procedure—truly the epitome of puppy relaxation! We're delighted to share that Eisen's ultrasound revealed no abnormalities, bringing a sigh of relief to his loving family.

A Tale of Quick Thinking and Expert Care! 🐶💪

Recently, Board Certified Internist Dr. Sarah Cocker and her technician, Maggie, had the pleasure of assisting Churro at Bayview Veterinary Center. Here's the story:

The team received an urgent call from Bayview Veterinary Center regarding Churro, who was suspected of having an esophageal foreign body. It all started innocently enough—Churro was enjoying a treat from his monthly treat subscription box when he suddenly began experiencing respiratory distress. Thankfully, he was already feeling better when he reached Bayview Veterinary Center.

Radiographs revealed the presence of a foreign body in the esophagus and stomach. Dr. Cocker performed an endoscopy, uncovering the culprit: a stubborn treat lodged in the esophagus. But here's where the real challenge began—despite her best efforts, the treat kept breaking apart and refused to budge. 🚨😲

Dr. Cocker was able to break the treat into smaller pieces and safely guided them into Churro's stomach. Thanks to her quick thinking and skillful approach, Churro is now on the road to recovery!

Board Certified cardiologist Dr. Christina Bové and her assistant Rachyl were recently invited to Animal Oasis of the Rockies for the first time to perform an echocardiogram on the charming Prince, a 6-year-old Cavalier King Charles. 🐾❤️

Prince was a model patient for his procedure. Following Dr. Bové's careful examination, he was diagnosed with mild degenerative mitral valve disease, indicating a minor issue with one of his heart valves. Thankfully, no medications are necessary presently, and while he may face slightly higher risks during anesthesia, Prince's future looks bright! 🌟🐶

Board Certified Cardiologist Dr. Lydia Soydan and her technician, Maggie, recently enjoyed catching up with Iris at North Lake Veterinary Clinic. About a year ago, Iris was referred by Dr. Molly Lien at North Lake Vet Clinic for evaluation of her ventricular arrhythmia. Since then, her condition has been diligently managed, and we're thrilled to report that Iris has been doing exceptionally well! 🙌🥳

But that's not all—during the team's visit, Iris shared some truly exciting news with them... she's going to be a big sister to TWINS! 🎉 We couldn't be happier for her and her wonderful family. Iris is such a sweet girl; we know she'll make an incredible big sister.

The Adventures of Lulu

Board Certified Internist Dr. Amber Stiller and her assistant, Fatima, were recently invited back to Country Friends Veterinary Clinic to assist in a case of a fishing trip gone wrong. 😲🎣 Lulu, an adorable 14-year-old dachshund, had found herself in quite a predicament. While assisting her human siblings in a morning fishing adventure, Lulu couldn't resist the temptation of a bacon-baited fish hook. Cue the frantic realization of her owner as they discovered the fishing line hanging from Lulu's mouth upon returning home. With her expertise and finesse in endoscopy, Dr. Stiller tackled the procedure head-on.
