Training with a buddy is great! The puppies get to work around eachother, learning when its rime to pay attention or go goof off.
During this game the puppies must stay on their place (no specific position) until released by their trainer.

If your puppy takes a while to potty in your yard or gets distracted easily then this hack is for you!Giving your puppy a smaller section of yard to potty in will help your puppy concentrate on going to the bathroom and will speed up the process! As an added bonus this will also teach the puppy to go to that section of your yard in the future for potty breaks even when the gate/ pens have been removed. This will help keep the rest of the yard clean for playtime and allow for easier pick up. #puppytraining #puppytrainingtips #puppies #dogtrainer #dogtrainingtips #puppyadvice #positivedogtraining #rewardsbasedtraining #lapponianherder #babydog #newpuppy #puppytraining101 #puppytraininghacks #dogmom #dogdad #puppyadoption

Here’s a clip of my dog Quinn when he was 10 weeks old (now 13.5 years ago!)We do a lot of clicker training and this was a catching session. This means I would wait for him to offer a behavior to me and then I would click and reward it.In this session he came up with spinning and not only did it in one direction but also the other 😊 Doing positive training with puppies early on allows them to be creative and you end up with a puppy that very open to learning new things and easy to teach. Rest Easy, Quinn. We miss you everyday ♥️••••#sheltie #shetlandsheepdog #puppytraining #rip #heartdog #ilovemydog #myheart #puppytrainer #clickertraining #positivedogtraining #puppylife #puppygoals #puppygram #puppyoftheday
5 things I don’t regret teaching my 13 year old dog when he was a puppy 🥹❤️🐶1. Manners in public. Taking time to train him in different places and work on proper socialization and exposure training while he was young has made such a difference in his life. He’s a pleasure anywhere he goes and easy to travel with. 2. Tricks. This may not seem important but teaching tricks is so good for building a fun working relationship. He enjoys learning new things at any age! Practicing his tricks and obedience helps keep his mind sharp ✨☀️3. Working with other people. He’s a good listener no matter who he is with. This has made it easy for others to watch him if he didn’t travel with me and has made him a great animal actor! 4. How to self entertain appropriately and be okay with being left alone. He uses his chew toys and bones and doesn’t stress out when a person isn’t home with him. 5. Social skills with children and other animals. When he was a puppy I didn’t have a child of my own and wasn’t normally around children so I made an effort to make sure he was well exposed (this doesn’t mean a bunch of kids were always just petting him). I also made sure to let him see other species of animals and worked on his manners around them. Most animals are very relaxed around him since he isn’t fixated on them and trying to invade their personal space. If you’re going to be spending many years with an animal, taking the time and putting in the effort to work with them when they are young can make such a difference in your bond and relationship. This dog is my best friend and I miss him so much ❤️💔Slip lead disclaimer: slip leads are fine used on trained dogs that do not pull. We also use them as a back up leash for nervous dogs that may be able to slip their harness or leash. We also use them in animal acting and agility for quick on and off. We do not use slip leads to train a dog. #dogtraining #dogs #seniordogs #seniordog #mybo
”Leave it” will mean DONT TOUCH THAT AND/ OR WALK AWAY FROM IT!🐶Leave it is a hard exercise for a dog to learn because the “thing” you want them to leave alone can constantly change: it could be random food they find on a sidewalk, garbage, another animal, a strange person, a moving item like a bike, etc. so practicing with a variety of items is key 🔑 in order for your dog to really grasp the concept. 🐶Teaching this also requires some great reinforcement! Don’t be stingy with your praise and treats!🐶In this video I’m showing you how to teach this on the floor. We still have to practice in different ways like if someone is holding an object a dog must leave alone (think toddler with snack in hand), teach the dog to leave items on raised surfaces alone (like your glasses on a nightstand especially for those fast growing puppies!), work on moving objects (think cars or cat running by) AND we have to make it a point to work with the dog inside and outside. This isn’t easy! In this video we have already started working on leave it with this puppy. When he is asked to leave the item alone (in this case its food) i simply wait for him disengage with it and when thay happens im marking the behavior of leave it and ENCOURAGING him to walk away from the food by following me to get his reward/ treat. Im not jerking him, pulling on him or repeating myself over and over to get him to stop. Im letting him make a choice.DROP IT means to spit/ release something out of their mouth. Don’t mix them up 🐶🙅🏻♀️👇🏼If you’re interested in teaching this from are 1 or are Ready to see the next part? Here are three things you can do to make your pups wait at the door a MUCH stronger behavior:
1. Reward your dog for the wait as much as possible.
2. Use a clear release and / or signal to let your dog know they can exit. No making the dog guess!
3. Proof your dogs wait by adding little distractions. Reward your dog for not falling for any of your tricks!

Teaching your dog to walk nicely on leash?👉🏼Here are some tips to help speed up that process!1. Walk back and forth in the same area, this will make the area boring after a while and allow your dog to focus on you more. Once this is easy for both of you then walk a bit further!2. Make random turns. Being predictable is boring. Being unpredictable makes the dog focus on you more since you’re the guide on the walk!3. Reward your dog for keeping the leash loose AND reward any good behaviors your dog offers: looking at you, leaving something alone, etc.4. Work for short sessions, 5-15 min. 👇🏼Would you like more tips? What would you like to see?Note: this is not a debate on how to walk a dog. This is for teaching loose leash walking and more attentiveness while on leash. ••••#dogtraining #puppytraining #puppytrainingtips #puppylife #dogtraining101 #dogtrainingvideos #dogtrainingadvice #dogtrainingtips #positivedogtraining #rewardbasedtraining #labrador #puppykisses #puppyoftheday #dogoftheday #dogtrainingisfun #doggo #dogmom #dogdad

💥The place exercise has SOOOO many uses!👉🏼Different trainers teach place differently and have different rules… it can be confusing. Here are MY rules for “place”.✅Place is NOT their bed or crate. It’s something that is put out when in use and taken away when not used. Their bed or crate is left out 24/7 and has no rules. It’s hard for a some dogs to remember when they got on the bed on their own or try to remember if you told them to get on and stay on it. By having a different “place” you eliminate this confusion.👉🏼Having a dog do an auto place away from the door is also a lot less tempting for some dogs. ✅The pup can do anything she wants in place as long as she stays on it. There is not a certain position to maintain. This is why I love teaching it to puppies because it’s easier than a “stay”. Stay means DONT MOVE OUT OF THE POSITION OR SPOT I PUT YOU IN. ✅The only way off place is by getting released. In this video we were working on throwing the place down on the floor and that is Bindis cue to hop on it and stay on it until released. This way we can quickly get to the door without having to set the whole training exercise up.⭐️Place is a great way to prevent your dog from jumping/ climbing on guests when they enter and running out the door!
