Roo is looking great in our underwater treadmill! She has been making steady progress and is learning to walk on all four limbs again. Way to go, Roo! Please see previous post for Roo’s history.

Roo, a five-month old Australian Shepherd cross, getting a physical rehabilitation session. Roo’s name came from her walking like a kangaroo because both of her front legs were broken. She is getting TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation), acupuncture and various therapeutic exercises with the goal of walking on all four legs again. She will be starting treatment using our underwater treadmill soon, so stay tuned!

Hey Oak Tree family! The next week is forecasted to have days reaching up to 110°F. Not only is the air going to be hot but the ground will be too. Parking lots, roads, and sidewalks are especially good at retaining heat and will even be much hotter than 110°F in that weather. Please take care when walking your pets so they don't burn their paws! If you can not keep the back of your hand on the ground for 10 seconds then it is definitely too hot for your pet's paws. Look into getting some booties to protect your pup's feet!

Water offers a fantastic and invigorating environment for exercise. The underwater treadmill is a unique and safe method of rehabilitation that leverages the natural buoyancy and resistance of water. This therapeutic method strengthens muscles and enhances flexibility while placing minimal pressure on the joints. The warm water further boosts flexibility and mobility in the muscles, tendons, and ligaments surrounding the joints, and also improves circulation.

Underwater treadmill can help animals with a variety of conditions, including:
🌀 Post-surgical recovery
🌀 Arthritis
🌀 Obesity
🌀 Neurological disorders
🌀 Muscle atrophy
🌀 Joint issues
🌀 Athletic conditioning

What if my pet is afraid of water? No need to worry! While some pets may be initially hesitant, most quickly become comfortable once they are gently and gradually introduced to the underwater treadmill by our dedicated rehab staff.

Big CONGRATULATIONS to our precious Millie (aka Dragonfly)! 💜

Words cannot describe how incredibly proud we are of this brave little girl! She was hit by a car and taken in by Bradshaw Animal Shelter. She was paralyzed in her back legs when she first arrived 6 months ago. Through consistent hard work with our rehab team, Millie is now a completely independent and functional little girl and will be up for adoption soon!
