Leash issues are a huge problem for the dog-owning public.

Dogs love to be outside, and the walk is a stimulating and exciting part of their day, so the desire to push ahead is very strong.That being said, all dogs need to be taught how to walk on a leash in a positive way without pain or discomfort so that a walk becomes enjoyable for everyone.

Here's some changes you can adopt in yourself if you want your dog to stop pulling their leash.

When it comes to taking a walk, dogs definitely have a different agenda than their human companions.

Dogs like to go wherever their noses lead them.

Does your dog pull on his leash? This is what you should do.

🐕‍🦺Use a chest-led harness:
The right gear can make all the difference, especially when it comes to walking your dog. If yours pulls, it might be time to invest in a chest-led harness where the leash attaches to a clip on your dog's chest instead of to the collar around his neck.

🐾Incorporate smell stops on your route:
Walking in a straight line on a concrete sidewalk can be extremely boring for an animal who learns about the world around him through his sense of smell.

🐶Reward good behavior:
As you work to leash-train your canine friend, use small treats to reward his progress. He'll quickly learn that being on the leash is fun as well as delicious!

✨Be patient:
This might be the most difficult part of the training. Starting, stopping, changing direction, and constantly monitoring your dog's progress can be frustrating. Making sure you're in the right mindset before you head out to train your dog.

With patience and consistency, you will enjoy your daily walks every bit as much as your dog does.

When choosing what walking gear to outfit your new pup with, the variety of options seems endless! Leashes are an important training tool and something that you'll use almost every day — which means it's important for you to find one that matches your needs and preferences.

Different activities are easier with different kinds of leashes. You might find that having multiple kinds of leashes is best, depending on the things you plan on doing with your dog — whether it's hiking, going to a dog training class, or walking through a crowded city center.

No matter what kind of leash you choose, it should be well-made with a secure clasp and comfortable for you to use.

There are several leashes made with a combination of features. Some standard leashes have special grip handles. Certain adjustable leashes have elastic or springs in them to help absorb the shock of a pulling dog. There are leashes with reflective strips for nighttime walking or running. Some leashes are even equipped with flashlights, built-in waste bag holders.

Even if you are a first-time dog owner, you know that you are supposed to be the one holding the leash while your dog walks on the other end. So why does your dog feel the need to take the leash in his or her own mouth when the two of you hit the streets?

The key to any training is consistency; if you're not consistent, you're not going to get the result you want.

These are some reasons why consistency is important in dog leash trainings.

🐶 Consistent cue during dog training makes it much easier for your dog to learn new commands or tricks.

🐾With fix daily rituals you can teach your dog that these situations are normal parts of the day and, with time, your pup will get use to these challenges as a part of his daily routine.

🐕Train your dog for at least 15 minutes per day broken down into small 2-5 minute segments. Remember, only practice will make them perfect.

🐕‍🦺For more effective communication and training with your dog, try to make your verbal, as well as non-verbal, cues consistent.

You may know dogs and people whose personalities are mirror images of each other!

Research says that dogs have an ability to read and match human emotions. "When a person is very anxious, our dogs understand this and often become anxious as well. If the anxiety is chronic, the dog may also develop chronic anxiety," she says.

When your dog starts jumping, stay calm. Don't pay any attention to him until he is calm.

Teach your dog that they receive no attention for jumping on you or anyone else. You can turn your back and only pet your dog when all four paws are on the floor.

Teach your dog to do something that is incompatible with jumping up, such as sitting. They can't sit and jump up at the same time. If they are not sitting, they get no attention.

Being a dog parent can be overwhelming and it's natural feel frustrated during the process. But all the time, energy and focus is 100% worth it when you have a dog that listens and follows your lead.

Being a dog parent there are going to be problems that come up with your puppy or dog. Depending on whether you are a new or seasoned dog parent could make you feel confident or worried that new problem will never go away.

One of the most common problems I see or hear is about your puppy or dog jumping on you or other people.

The humiliation as well as the many apologizes you say over again and again still do not fix the problem and make you feel trapped.

Dogs jump for all kinds of reasons: attention, excitement or not knowing what else to do when they see a person.🤔

Does your dog jump on you as if they've got springs on their feet? Like it or not, we humans are to blame. We not only permit this behavior, we encourage it. 😵‍💫

We forget that cute behavior in a puppy can become a real nuisance when they grow up.😖

Allowing your dog to jump on people can be dangerous too. You can end up scratched and bruised. A child or frail adult can be knocked down and seriously injured.😰

Solving a behavior problem like jumping requires both management of the situation and training your dog.

This will prevent jumping while they are learning proper behavior.🤗

Teach your dog that they receive no attention for jumping on you or anyone else.🐕

You may think that the biggest problem you'll have with a new puppy is being overwhelmed by all the cute. And in a way, that is your biggest challenge. You have to get past all the fluffy, floppy, big-eyed, clumsy cuteness to create and enforce rules and training that create a happy, balanced dog when all that puppy cuteness fades away.

Many dogs that hit the "teenage" stage at about a year old end up in shelters because the owners didn't realize how much attention, exercise, training and patience a puppy would require, especially as that ball of fluff grows into a bigger, stronger dog.

Being a dog parent can be overwhelming and it's natural feel frustrated during the process. But all the time, energy and focus is 100% worth it when you have a dog that listens and follows your lead.

From your dog's perspective they're getting your attention, which is exactly what they want. If your dog is getting the outcome they want getting them to stop this behavior may be more difficult than you expect.
