I have a huge favor to ask of my friends, family and community.

Nearly 4 years ago I came to Canaan Valley and started running Mountain Trail Rides. Along with that, I met a lot of wonderful people. One of which was our farrier, Bennie and his lovely wife Martha. If you have been around, you’ve probably seen them or atleast had one of Martha’s delicious homemade fried pies! Unbeknownst to me that his family would become some of my very bestfriends, and have actually became like my family. Bennie and Martha live in a small community in Springs, PA. Together they have 4 children, Tilly, John, Laura & Michael. Recently their youngest child, “Little Michael” as we like to call him. Was diagnosed with brain cancer. (Specifically low grade glioma of optic nerve) Yesterday, July 19th 2024 was his first chemo treatment as of right now they plan to continue chemo for one year, making a total of 24 treatments which will be done in Pittsburgh. These folks have been here for me on my best and worst days. Daylight to dark they would give me or any other stranger for that matter all they had if it meant they made someone else smile with no expectations of a return. They are the most humble and absolute selfless people I’ve ever met. So much so, they would never ask for anything in the time of need. Rightfully so, I believe that time of need is now. I woke up this morning compelled to start a fundraiser for them, although they would never ask for anything. I know that if my child were sick, traveling back and forth to Pittsburgh, the stress of a very ill child, financial matters and more would send me over the edge.

To relieve a small portion of this burden I have decided to start a fundraiser so they can focus on getting Michael to treatment with less worry of what they are facing finacially. The gofund me account is already linked to a bank account that is owned by the family. Times are already tough for families, if you can please donate. It is very much appreciated, if you can’t, please pray for them and share this post.

With a heavy heart we are announcing the passing of our sweet girl Tasha. Several of our guests know just how sensitive this girl was to everything and how easily she would colic but this time was much worse than any time before. We called the vet, spent countless hours attempting to do everything possible and at the end of the day the vet recommended humane euthanasia. These decisions are never easy but necessary sometimes. 🥺 The last few weeks have been very tough and trying, please keep us in your thoughts. 🫶🏻 please share any pictures of Tasha you may have.

A huge thanks to Dr. S for always doing everything you can for our babies.
