Oscar found his forever home today!! Thanks to the story that ABC 12 put on the air. A family from Ithaca came to see him along with their dog, Copper. It was love at first sight.💕🐾💕

Bruce, Oscar and KC are ready to be adopted! They need to go to homes with no cats. Bruce needs to be an only child. And they need to be with someone with a kind, patient heart. They have been fending for themselves for some time and need to learn some manners. But they have A LOT of love to give💕 Please contact the clinic at 810-412-4700 or through Facebook messenger.

We would like to thank the community again for their kind words and generous donations. We are lucky to be a part of this amazing community.

Many people have asked how they can donate to the Zeke Fund. We just established a Venmo account to make this easier.

The Zeke fund is named after the Childs family dog, Zeke that was rescued and adopted by the family in 1998. Cindy and Zeke provided a reading therapy program for students at Siple Elementary. Zeke passed away from C**n Hound paralysis while they were building their practice.

The Zeke fund has been used for emergency situations. People who have come in with a dog in a fire, drowning or found injured have been beneficiaries of this fund.

Thank you.

In case you missed it!

John and Kay Forys, local residents, made the discovery Saturday evening. Child Veterinary Clinic has taken in the dogs, until they can be adopted.

Puppy Update!

Bruce is feeling much better. He had a good meal and is drinking water. He is walking ok. Dr. Childs is going to try to take the bullet out tomorrow. He wanted to make sure Bruce was strong enough.

Oscar and KC are feeling great. They still have a lot of intestinal parasites, but their stool looks so much better. They are eating great. They enjoy play time with the staff.

We would like to give a huge thanks to Purinia that is donating a 25 lb bag of EN dog food to go home with each puppy. And Zoetis that will be donating 6 months of Simperica Trio for each puppy.

Also, thank you to the community for donating toys, blankets and money to the Zeke Fund. If you would like to donate please contact the office.

Puppy update!

The uninjured male (Oscar) and female (KC) are doing great. They have vomited plastic bags, cigarette butts, bones and a lot of undescribable items. And we don’t want to talk about the other end after giving them a dewormer! They are eating very well. They are getting lots of attention. And they are so happy to be somewhere warm and safe.

The injured pup (Bruce) is still on pain meds,IV and recovering. He hasn’t eaten a meal yet, but he is doing much better than yesterday. If Bruce is ready tomorrow Dr. Childs will attempt to get the bullet out again. Watch for updates tomorrow because we may put it on Facebook live.

Thank you to everyone that has donated money to the Zeke fund, toys and blankets. It is greatly appreciated. We also appreciated all the kind words. It is because of wonderful people in the community and Davison Township police that we were able to be part of this journey.

To the person that dumped three 8 month pit bull puppies off in the cold to fend for themselves, shame on you. To the person who decided to shoot one in the leg, shame on you!

Yesterday when everyone was enjoying the Lions game, I was out with Officer Zecchini and Kay Tanner Forys at the Davison Cemetery rescuing these three cold scared pitties. We caught the most injured one and I brought him right to our clinic for my husband and daughter to work on. They were already there helping rescues with spays and neuters. He was in bad shape. All three are skinny, cold and starving. After an X-ray he found a bullet in the dogs right front leg. The dog has puncture wounds all over his body and his p***s was ripped and hanging out. He was in surgery for two hours trying to get the bullet out (we couldn’t get it out) and creating a “new hole” so the dog will be able to urinate. The other two dogs were given a warm meal, bathed and treated for their minor wounds.
They are the sweetest dogs💕. They just want a warm place to sleep and someone to love. Today my husband and daughter will be spaying and neutering the other two dogs. They need homes. We will keep them at the clinic for a few days before contacting a rescue. If you are interested in adopting one please contact Childs Veterinary Clinic at 810-412–4700. All we ask is a donation to the Zeke fund that helps us pay for cost for emergency situations.

Saturday was a sad day at the Childs household. Their dog Bubba (The profile pic) of 16 years was laid to rest. A week earlier Dr. Childs cat died suddenly. Dr. Childs has been very sad and wanted to express his gratitude for the kind words from clients the last few days. We really do take it to heart and understand the difficult decisions and the heartache of loosing a pet. Thank you for your kindness.
